Pairing shoes racer/trainer

So I’m about to make a new purchase and would love to hear what you guys are wearing and what seems to work. Here are some things I’m looking for. I want a trainer that will be good for marathon training and taking near 60 miles per week. I want a racer that pairs well with the trainer and can be worn bare foot without irritation. So tell me what your doing or any suggestions.

Personally, I wear New Balance MR769’s for training, and RC769 (racing comp) for races. The RC has a lower profile and is about 1/4 pound lighter per shoe). Its a much faster shoe.

How can you glean any info from what someone else uses/does and apply this to you with regards to shoegear? Dallase rec is actually a VERY good combo, but means nothing. A 200 lb 4:30 runner will likely be in a different set of shoes than a 140 lb 2:40 guy.

Is this 60 miles/week on trails? treamill? crowned roads? winter? weight? I can get 800 miles out of a pair of shoes that others get 300. Why do you want to go barefoot (no socks) training for a marathon?

As everyone else stated it depends on you mostly.

I like the Adidas Boston Climacools in training
Saucony Type A2 for racing

Haven’t tried em, but curious about…
The Nike Lunar glides in training
Nike Lunar Racers

I get what you are saying by it is about what I’m doing. I believe my post was more to get different ideas of shoes before researching hundreds. But to clarify. I’m doing a marathon yes. However I’d like to buy racers in prep for next season and do speed work in them. The other shoes will be for training and yes marathon. Mostly on pavement. 160lbs and neutral runner.

Do many people mix brands? And I too have been interested in the Lunar trainer/racer

Check more into it, but you probably will like the Glide more than the trainer. From what I’ve read its somewhere in between the two and has a more durable sole.

I think a lot of people mix brands. I found a racer that worked for me and a trainer. I tried on racers in every brand, and trainers in every brand. Ended up with the Adidas/Saucony tandem. A lot of it had to do with what I had available to try on. No store in my area had Adidas racers.

Forgot to mention, the Saucony Type A2s and Boston climacools are excellent sockless shoes.
