Packing List for Wildflower

Ok. So there’s been posts on logistics, the course, the weather, and the unique aid stations. Anyone have a packing list of essentials for the Wildflower trip? (Assume RV living for 3-5 days at the site and assume 1st time visitor. Not racing stuff, unless it’s a non-obvious item)

Thanks!

Bring all your own food and drink for those 3 days. WF is in the middle of nowhere and the store has a very limited selection . unless you plan on that one hour drive into town

from what I’ve heard, have a disposable camera for the aid stations. nice!

some form of shade (i.e. EZ Up). camping next to a tree is hit or miss.

Good call on bringing your own food for the whole time, eric.

So far:

  1. Food for whole trip
  2. Shade (trees are hit or miss)
  3. Disposable in tri-suit for aid station.

check. next…

  1. Beer

  2. Mixings for Margaritas (it IS Cinco de Mayo weekend)

  3. Beer

  4. Beer

That should pretty much cover it. If you run out of anything (like beer), the College kids will be more than willing to give you some;-)

Leave your inhibitions at home…This is WF!!!

  1. Beer
  2. Margarita Mix
  3. Beer
  4. Beer

check. things are shaping up. next…

I would watch out for the trees if it’s like last year. The caterpillars were in the midst of dropping from trees and were quite the huge mess.

Beer: Yes!

Firewood for the evenings.

Lounge Chairs w beer holders in the arm rests
Ice for the beer
warm clothes it has been darn clold at night low 40’s
insect repellant
sunscreen
Good Coffee, the Folgers stuff they have down there just doesn’t cut it
.

I am tenting it and just picked up the mother of all tents at Costco - something like 18’ x 10’ with 3 rooms and a screen porch. Got an air mattress with a rechargable pump too. Making my own little condo - we are getting there Wednesday AM so we can find a place to set this beast up.

Other things on my short list are:

Firewood.
Warm clothes.
Coffee Maker
Big sign so I can find the coffee maker
Blender

Lantern
Mosquito repellant - yeah, lots of this.

I hope the blender and coffee maker are battery operated or you may be sorely disappointed. I bring the little Melita and a 1/2 lb of Peet’s. I second the folding lawn chair with the beer holders. A camping stove with some extra fuel and a couple gallons of bottled water.

Also, bring a flashlight or headlamp for late night visits to the outhouse. And sunscreen and a hat to keep the sun off.

No electricity? No problem. Get a TailGator® - The Totally Portable Gas-Powered Blender.Their webpage claims at only 10 lbs., the Totally Portable TailGator® sports a 24cc 2-stroke engine which generates enough torque to whip up a pitcher of your favorite frozen beverage in just about 15 seconds. Its 60 oz. plastic pitcher is light-weight and detachable for easy pouring and clean-up. Now, could making girlie drinks be any more manly? http://www.totallygross.com

dude AC anywhere by Belkin model F5C400. Plugs into the Cigarette lighter and can put out 140 watts of AC at 110v costs around $40.00

Hook up the extension cord: run a blender or a coffee maker or the laptop.

me espresso machine for a double cap. and the blender for protein smoothies in the morning

maybe I am sheltered, but this is one of the funniest threads I’ve ever read here. I had to bump it. One more contribution to the quality of posts.

Yeah, mjpwooo! Let’s here some more stuff people are hauling up there. I know there’s got to be some more goodies in those campers and tents that others would love to hear about.

Battery-operated Xmas lights for my tent, so I can find it in the dark after consuming many beers and margaritas Saturday night.

Rain gear, if the weather doesn’t change soon.

is there any TV reception up there if you don’t have a dish? Since I am making a vacation out of it, I may actually have a bit of spare time to watch a show or two for once.

I believe there is fuzzy reception of the NBC affiliate. Can’t remember getting anything else, unless you go down to the store and take command of their big screen. I’ll have a DVD/PS2 with me, since I’ll be getting there on Monday.
