Pacific Beach- surf

Headed to San Diego for a bachelor party this weekend and will be staying in the PB part of town.
Planning on surfing Saturday at Tourmaline.
Anyone have any good insight for that beach, maybe how the waves are breaking, any swell coming up?
Thanks
R

Check solspot, pacificwaverider and surfline.

thanks for the heads up, ill check those and magicseaweed.
was also hoping for some local insight

PM Str’s Duffy and Monty.

Take pictures.

I’m stuck in CubeLand and need to live through others.

As another poster mentioned regarding surfline, here’s a link;

http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/old-mans-tourmaline-southern-california_4804/

Not much going on there today, nor does it look much forecasted next couple of days.

thanks for the update, you’re right it’s not looking so good.
either way im getting in the water.

When you arrive you may also want to check out the foot of Law St, which is about 1/4 mile south of Tourmo. Its close and may be convenient for you and is easy access. Have fun!

See above post.

It’s possible you’ll get fun surf on Sunday. It will be crowded regardless.

Good luck, have fun.

Make sure you have a black wetsuit, a clear board and no leash. And no sweepers unless you really know what you are doing (99% of them don’t). The last thing we need are more kooks with neon colored Costco soft boards.

And for god’s sake, no matter what else you do, DO NOT wear booties with your spring suit. It’s a dead giveaway that you’re a tourist.

He’s going to Tourmaline not Hazard’s.

If they knew what they were doing they’d stay out of the surf zone entirely. So, even if they “know what they’re doing” they should stay the f@ck away.

At least the Costco boards are soft. BTW, I surfed Pt. Mugu (back when contractors that minded their Ps and Qs were allowed to surf) during a big south on a Wave Storm. It was a heavy day and I had already snapped my Mugu board and a back up board. I used to always carry the Costco board on my truck so I paddled out on that thing and got pitted. Super fun.

You forgot to mention the hat. You know, the one with a chin strap…

Completely agree although I surf a lot in Hawaii, I see a lot of very skill paddleboard riders and let’s face it anyone dropping in on a wave at Ho’okipa on a SUP probably really does know what they are doing. Unlike here in San Diego.

I’ve heard they are getting better and actually pick up the wave pretty well.

Thanks for all the pointers everyone.
I had planned on bringing my short john wetty and booties, but after reading your comments I might leave that behind, sounds like I would stand out just a bit…
But good thing I found this old gem in the closet last night, definitely bringing this and my zinc

Bonus points for pink surfboard with an asymmetric tail design!

There’s a particular hollow left I surf that I use an asymmetric fin setup.

That’s awesome. Did your boy decorate the board? I look forward to my daughter being old enough to get artistic on one of mine.

Yeah, when I get a new board I hand him a bucket of sharpies and tell him to have at it. Most of the ones he’s drawn on have been broken so there there’s only two left right now (with his work on it).

BTW, that red nubby fin now sits in the rear slot. Little more drive.

I appreciate all the insight on the conditions in PB and Tour areas. We made it out Saturday and had a great time down near Tower 23. Not the greatest waves but a ton of fun. Rented a solid fun shape from PB Surf Shop, really nice guys.
Cant wait to make it back out that way soon.
