P3 with smaller wheelset

I know didly about bikes. I saw a 51cm P3 with 650 wheels. The stocked 51 cm ones come with 700s. Do you know why someone would do this? Wouldn’t there be a fit issue with putting in smaller wheels or is this normal for people to do this?

Cervelo manufactured and sold the older P3s with the smaller 650 wheels. I think the 51 P3c is when they started using 700s.

The one that I saw was a newer model. Looks like a 2009 model.

I was just wondering if there were any valid reasons for switching out the wheel or a smaller version. I can’t imagine why anyone would do that.

The last time that Cervelo made a 51 that used 650c wheels was with the aluminum version of the bike. All of the carbon 51 cm P3s have used 700c wheels. You could put 650 wheels on them but the rear brake caliper wouldn’t reach the rim and you would need a different fork.

Either the seller doesn’t know what they are talking about or they had their aluminum frame repainted.

…or it could be a 48cm. All P3s in that size have 650 wheels.
