i’m 5’11 150lbs…i’ve been riding a 56cm trek road bike the last two seasons. i have a chance to get a great deal on a slightly used 54cm p2k at a bike shop. they said it would fit me, not been fitted yet though. i know you go a little smaller for a tri bike…what do you guys think? i have about a 32’ inseam, very average size… just skinny. the trek fits well.
p2k sizing has been my bandwagon lately, so I’ll reply to this lonely post. I’m 5’11 with a 32" inseam and swapping out my 58 p2k for a 55. I haven’t paid much attention to the 54 frame geometry because of the 650c wheel size, but my suspicion is that this would probably work fine. My advice on fitting is to go by the top tube length and your ability to get a good drop to the bars. you can easily make up seat tube length with the seat post. the 54cm frame should give you more than enough drop to the bars, so getting a good fit on the top tube would be the thing to watch for.
thanks for the info guys. it is a 700c. i’m pretty low on my setup now, and feel i could go lower and still be comfortable. i do wish the p2k had braze-ons for two bottles on the frame…my only complant about the bike. (silly one at that)
I wonder if the P2K is “runs a little large.” I seem to remember a column from Slowman once about how different makers measure from different places and so forth so it’s hard to judge the size without trying it out. In any event, I’m 5’8" and was surprised when my LBS said to order the 48 because that just seemed a little small but it is a PERFECT fit.
Luke and Brad are both about the same size as me (I’m heavier no doubt) and they say 54cm is right. I am near buying a 54cm P2K myself.
I used to have a 53cm QR Special Edition and it was a tad small for my taste (and back) I got all the dimensions for the QR and the P2K and the 54 P2K seems like a good match for me (gotta stay with 650C at my size!!!) You have a 48?! and it fits you at 5’8"? Wow.
