I’m curious to hear how fellow ST’ers who own a p2k/p3k mounted their bike computers: especially where did you put the speed pickup (front fork towards the front? front fork towards the back? rear chainstay?) and the wires for the cadence sensor…
I have a cateye astrale, this is a rear wheel pickup w/ cadence. Both sensors are on the left chain stay and then I ran the wire (they are both one double wire) up the bottom of the down tube, to my front brake cable, wrapped around it up to my mount on my aero bars. To hold it to the down tube, I simply used one long piece of electrical tape the length of it. Just make sure your frame is clean and the tape will stay for atleast a season. This year I found some blue electrical tape that blended much better so I redid it w/ the blue, even though you could not even see the black. I have a picture, if you email me (oeight44@hotmail.com) I can send it to you, or if someone knows how to put pics on this site.
mine is done almost identically to oeight44’s. except I used several small pieces of elect tape on he down tube. and mine is a ciclosport computer, with only one wire leaving the mount (one wire, it splits, the 2 sensors and their associated wires are of two different lengths.) it worked great with my spoked deep rim rear. but now I have a disc that just arrived last week, so I’m thinking of changing computers to one that has a front speed/distance setup. I don’t think I want to fool with trying to rig up a magnet to my flat disc.
I agree with both of you --almost :~) You can buy clear electrical tape. So the tape doesn’t show at all. However the wire itself shows from the bottom side.

Excellent and elegant solution. It must be. That’s what I’ve done too ![]()
I have my 2003 P2K painted red and found som excelletn electrical tape to match. I taped under teh downtube, near the head tube, crosswise then pulled the computer wire taut. I slowly added a long piece of top over the wire, with no twists or kinks and it looks fabulous.
Under the BB I taped it too and managed a very neat job overall. Taped along the chain stays in one long length as well. Hides the black wire against the red bike very well.
It’s such a tidy (anal retentive me) job that several people have asked if I routed the wire internally!!! Not sure how one could do that, what with big knobbly plastic bits at each end of the wire and no superfluous holes ina P2K frame, but got me thinking.
front of the fork just in case it shifts and the magnet hits it, that way it doesn’t get sucked into your wheel as you ride. Used automotive vinyl to hide the wire, can barely even see it.
