I’m in the market for a good pair of over the ear headphones to use while on the trainer. Does anyone have experience with any working well? I’ve seen people at the tour warming up on trainers while wearing beats, but they also won’t get as sweaty during a warm up as you would during a full trainer workout.
Anyone know of any good quality, sweat proof/resistant over the headphones? Or has anyone used beats for a trainer workout since I’ve seen a few pros using those in specific (and can’t exactly ask them for a review…)?
I have some old Sonys that I’ve used in the past. The key was that they have vinyl earpads similar to these (see image below) so they don’t absorb sweat and you can wipe them down.
A lot of top athletes get Beats for free (guerrilla marketing…they did this at the London Olympics). For pros it also acts as a “do not disturb” sign (people often miss that you’re wearing earbuds).
Any reason why you’d want these vs. some good quality buds?
Thanks, I’ll take a look at those. And that’s exactly what I was thinking about the beats. You have to take ‘I saw a pro using it’ with a grain of salt because they’re paid to use certain things, so I was hoping to hear if anyone had actually used them themselves.
As for the earbuds, it’s just a personal preference. I like over the ear style much better than earbuds, and since you’re not moving around on a trainer like you are when you’re running, the bulkiness doesn’t really matter to me. I’ve used a few crappy pairs of over the ear ones that I had laying around and I like working out on the trainer with them much better than with earbuds. Before I get a nice pair, though, I want some form of idea if they’ll break when contacted with sweat.
I’m very happy with these sonys. I like to not hear the trainer, so these have big cups. I sweat a lot and they lasted the last two winters down in hell
I wear the Beats by Dre Studio. They are super comfortable and the noise canceling feature is very nice on the trainer. The reviews on them all mention that they are overly bass heavy but that works well on the trainer. Only one winter on the trainer but I put in massive time on the trainer this year.
