Oval Concepts components: Nearly impossible to buy?

I have been trying for a while to locate someone willing to sell me a new 85mm Oval Concepts stem. Aside from eBay, these components seems exceptionally difficult to locate. I’ve reached out to Oval directly with limited or no reply. I can’t find a local dealer in NYC and even online distributers seem to be in short supply. What’s the deal here? Are these guys going out of business?

I’ve contacted oval concepts several times in the past few months via email. They have responded each time. It took a few days sometimes. They were always helpful in responding to my questions, though.

Oval Concepts is owned by the same company that owns Fuji and Kestrel. They use a lot of Oval Concepts componants as OEM items on those bikes, I don’t know if they even retail their products.

Are you reaching out directly through the website?
It’s been hit or miss for me. Last year they responded to an inquiry for new spacers for my aerobars, but the last few months I have sent a couple emails and never heard anything back.

If anyone finds out I’d like to know, I know they are a house brand or whatever with Fuji and Kestrel, but I’d like to try a few of there bars/stems, and maybe even crankset.

Yea. It was initially through their website. After a representative responded, I just responded to that email when I had additional questions.

I wasn’t trying to buy anything, though. As others have mentioned, I’m not sure they sell anything directly to consumers any more. They might, I just don’t know.

Oval is owned by Advanced Sports which owns the Fuji and Kestral brand. Components were not supposed to be available after market until the middle of this year. At least that was the plan back in September. Sometimes take offs are available.

Advanced Sports has for all intents and purposes killed a great component maker. Oval used to have unique, innovative products that were readily available through QBP and lots of other retailers. Advanced has pretty much stopped producing Oval’s best products. And now you can’t even get them if you want them.

So should I email ASI and get on a waiting list or something?
