I’ve been looking at upgrading to a set of Oval Concepts aerobars. I’m interested in the thought process of riders that purchased on model over the other.
The A900 is certainly slicker looking, but is it really worth paying double the price? Oval’s website seems to indicate that they are equally aerodynamic and the A700 is lighter.
Seems like A700 is the way to go, but the A900 is so damn pretty. Any thoughts?
I have been looking into aerobars also. Here is what i came up with. Looking at them both new ofcourse
a700 aluminum, doesnt come with brakes, weight 885 gms, weight adjusted 1223
a900 carbon, has brakes, weight 996gms, weight adjusted 1173.
for my comparision i did it similar to tom demmerlys aproach to a bar wars article he wrote. the adjusted weight added in a stem, shifters, adn brakes if one was lacking. the lighter weight is only because the a700 do not have brake levers. They both have the same adjustablityNot having used either of them the difference to me seems the a900 have less weight and shoudl be a little more aero due to the integrated brake levers. i think that the aero gain between them is negliable though. Would love to hear from anyone who has used them
