You might recognize my username from the thread you reference. Obviously, although I didn’t necessarily agree with what you wrote, I wasn’t offended. I think discussions there just have a different tone. Also, I would guess that many posters on the more political discussions there are, let’s say, less conservative than you. For that reason, you might have felt targeted. That being said, there are some smart folks there, as here, and you can just roll with it. I also participate in political discussions on another forum whose primary focus is another recreational activity, but the participants are much, much more conservative. They all think I’m some kind of psycho-liberal, which I find hilarious. My suggestion is to just take it in stride.
I’ll admit there is a little ventnig on my part. I figured I wouldn’t be the only one here who though the same thing. And lets face it, most of us like finding like minded people. I was intentionally vague and you are right. I think I’ll have to keep myself from posting in their forum that is similar to this lavendar room. The technical and triathlon related threads have been good to go.

First off, my name is Jeremi Hale and I live in Central Florida. I’m a power lifting triathlete with two races so far. Don’t know how much longer I’ll be power lifting though, because I fall in love with Triathlon more and more each day and at one point the two won’t be compatible. I thought I was a member here and even posted here. I know I lurk here often.
Back to the original post. I have been posting on the Other Forum for a while and in their Cup O’Joe area I find the users there maybe get a little to easily offended. The funny part is, they don’t seem to have a problem with offending others. So in otherwords, they can dish it out but not take it. Have any of you guys noticed that? I’ll be the first to admit, being the alpha male that I am, I don’t hold back on my opinion, but can always support what I post when stating facts. Maybe the testostrone is too much for some of the lesser men that post there, and for the women who like that type. What say you?

Pardon my confusion here. When you said “Other Forum,” at first I thought you meant our Triathlon forum, but then I got down to the phrase “Cup O’Joe.” Are you talking about BT by any chance? I thought they were supposed to be much more tame over there.

Yes and yes. They often use passive aggressive BS to attack your honesty. For instance in a poll asking if you carry while running or biking, I said hell yes and you should to. That elicited some pretty smart assed remarks. The alpha male in me wanted to call them out for the weak sheep they are, but I held back. Hence why I had to vent here. By the way Rob, are you a member of M4Carbine as well?
I got put on permanent time out from BT too. It took them long enough. I was really trying towards the end and it finally worked. It’s all rainbows and unicorns over there. Must be nice to live in a world where everyone is encouraging and almost never tell you exactly what you need to hear sometimes. I’ve learned to embrace posts here. Such a wide range of views really makes me open up my thinking a bit and look at things from a different perspective. There are also some real a-holes here, but that’s what makes the world go around right?

I think that thread was subsequent to the inital one I was talking about, but they all start sounding the same. Being called a blood thirsty monster was classic. In that same post a guy who claims to carry guns and support the second amendment said people like me make normal gun owners look bad and turn off those who sit on the fence. The problem with his argument is, without people like me, the discussion as a whole becomes about asking for your natural rights instead of defending those you already exercise. In otherwords, a right not exercise becomes a right lost.
