So those of you who are riding Osymetric rings, I have a few questions.
What size Osymetric rings are you using?
What’s your style of riding?(ie avg. cadence, masher/spinner)
What’s your set up(group, crank length, TT, road, triathlon)
Also feel free to show off your Osymetric pics
I can’t decide on what ratio to go with for a 130bcd
Rotor 3d (Quarq)
Compact 110 BCD
50/34 Q Rings
155mm crank arms
I try to spin between 90 and 100 rpm
This is on my tri bike (Trek SC). I running longer cranks on my road bike.
What size Osymetric rings are you using? → 54/44
What’s your style of riding?(ie avg. cadence, masher/spinner) → masher
What’s your set up(group, crank length, TT, road, triathlon) → dura ace, 170mm, TT
I use 54/42. Rear usually 25/11.
165cm cranks.
I’m 6’3"
I’m a masher in most of my training and for easy riding.
I ride about 80-84 when going hard.
Have had some issues with chain dropping, but it’s now going great. The K Edge chain catcher, a good mechanic and stopping pedalling when going from small to big ring did the trick.
Is currently in T1 at Alta lake, getting rained on at IM Canada.

What size Osymetric rings are you using? 52-42 on the road bike, 54-42 on the TT bike.
What’s your style of riding?(ie avg. cadence, masher/spinner) Usually around 90. Somewhere between spinner and masher.
What’s your set up(group, crank length, TT, road, triathlon). Using SRAM force and a 175 Cannondale Hollowgram crankset on both the road and TT setup.
I would say the 52-42 was a bit easier to get shifting perfectly, and has never once dropped my chain. You really can’t go wrong with Osymetrics though… I love 'em!
I run a 52/42 on my road bike and a 54/42 on my TT bike. With fine tuning both shifted well and never had issue with over shifting. I am also a bit of a masher and run 175’s. I saw an increase in peak power and functional threshold immediately and have been hooked since. My son also uses Osymetrics with the junior gear limit. He has switched back and forth and will not ride round chainrings any more. With the gear limit, having effectively a larger gear in the power portion of the pedal stroke is an advantage. His ability to spin has not been compromised either. We are now documenting with a newly acquired SRM.
I have been riding 52/42 on the road bike for several years. I ride a higher cadence, definitely not a masher. Flat lander. Could not imagine going back! A friend just
put a set of 52/38 compact, new 2013 version on his TT. (nicer finish). He has been on Osym for two years now, sold his old bike with rings and is staying with
Osym on the new ride. A good mechanic can get them to work, you just have to be patient!
Here she is! Finally finished!!!
