anybody else have something like this? --I have a 2cm or so boney growth off the side of my tibia – at a place where I broke both leg bones (tiba and fibula) about 30 years ago). It feels like I am running on a stress fracture – my doc believes that the boney growth is iritation tissues/muscles /nerves/ and rubbing against my fibula; he’s considering surgery – apparently they dremel this boney stuff down; the biggest risk apparently is that it grows back (worse?).
anycase – I would love to hear from any docs or anyone else with this type ofproblem. In the meantime – I will be the compression sock guy #1649 walking at IMLP tomorrow – so if anyone reads this and recognizes me, please push me over and put me out of my self-pity misery:)
I had the same thing. Never a problem when I played hockey, but when I started running it began to hurt. Surgery was easy. They cut it off and I was back to walking in a couple days. Nerves took awhile to come back though I couldn’t really move my big toe for a couple months.
Really depends where the osteochondroma is and your symptoms as to whether surgery is in your best interest. However, it is really your only option as it won’t just “go away”
