Orthotics Rocket 7 Footbed/pedal to foot distance

Has anyone used any of the following, a cycling specific orthotic, Rocket 7 custom shoe, Lust custom shoe, or a custom footbed. I have some knee (patella tracking) problems and was told by my Dr. to look into some form of orthotic (as well as begin some PT work). Rocket 7 seems like a great product but I have never met anyone using them. I have a Footbed expert in the area (Bill Peterson of Footfitness.com) and with a bike fit, cleat set up and custom footbed the cost is about the same as the custom shoe (which doesn’t incl. bike or cleat set up). Any ideas or experience with the above.

Also on a similar note does anyone know what pedal / shoe combination would create the shortest pedal to foot distance. Time “claims” 7.7mm, Speedplay 11.5mm-8.5mm, Shimano claims 14.4mm. I am unsure if they all measure from the same points or if using different shoes would decrease the numbers.

Thanks for the input.

i wear rocket 7’s. they are nice. extremely light weight. perfect fit. rock solid. with speedplays you mount the cleat directly to the shoe. no spacers or adaptors. closest thing to zero stack height you’ll ever find. they are pricey, but i feel they were worth it. don’t try to do the casting without a foot doc. it’s a tad tricky and very difficult to get the casts off.
