anybody has had a good experience with a podiatrist or a clinic that has fit orthotics in the Houston area.
I know they are many, I would like to know if anybody here has had a positive experience with someone who really understands runners/tri-athletes and can make a good custom fit.
Laurie Johnson, PT, at Affiliates in Physical Therapy, 3000 Richmond Ave, 713-621-2486. Almost all her clients are athletes - she used to work with the Houston Marathon until they started their affiliation w/ the Memorial Hermann Sports Institute. She got me on track after 6+ months of SI joint and other issues, too. The orthotics were expensive, but cheaper than more months of PT, and I haven’t had any issues since. I did IMTX last month - I’m slow, but I put a lot of miles in and had no more foot/knee/hip issues. Good luck.

We also fit orthotics at the MultiSport Health Center in Bellaire. We use Footmaxx and take you through a dynamic gait analysis to actually see what your foot is doing in motion versus the static molds other use. We work with triathletes, recreational athletes, and even a lot of the Texans, Rockets, and other pros. We other a number of different cuts of orthotics specifically for running, cycling, dress etc. so you can get the same support in whatever shoes you are wearing. I would highly recommend Dr. Donald Baxter at http://www.aokc.net/donald-baxter/. He is a marathon runner and cyclist who treats athletes in the Houston area. I’m on my second set of orthotics that were made by John at http://www.opa1.net/index.html for orthotics at the Bellaire location. I’ve been very happy with my orthotics from OPA. I haven’t tried any other Houston businesses that make orthotics.
