I realize this question is a bit pedantic, but what the hell, its Friday. I have a lot of bike stuff, though probably not as much as most ST’ers. My problem is largely diversity. Between tri, mtn, commuter, fixie, and the random frankenbike projects I occasionally work on I’m starting to accumulate a rather large pile of “stuff”. I made a pretty great wall rack, so the bikes aren’t the problem (unless of course you ask my lady), its more the tools and parts.
How you do other people with limited space keep all of this stuff organized? Pictures would be excellent. I know you guys all want to show off your collections…
I use rubber hooks from Home Depot. I have them on two rows, high and low. 4 bikes alternate right to left, high bar, low bar, high bar, low bar. Hooks are on boards, and screwed into the wall, so the top bike tires rest on the lower board, and a third board prevents the bottom bike tires from scuffing the wall. Easy… cheap… not pretty. Thought about using diamond deck… sweet look… or plexiglass.
I used a wrecked bike frame, wrecked wheels, bent handlebars, etc. to make an entire fake bike that hung on the wall. I attached various hooks, hangers, and containers to the wall around it, and stored parts according to where they went on the bike. Hanging soup can full of spokes, spoke nipples, etc. went inside the front wheel, aerobar and headset parts up near the handlebars, etc.
I’d take a picture, but the whole thing is in storage while my workshop is being destroyed and rebuilt.
Just moved a few months ago and was delighted to move to a place that had an extra bedroom.
Now space to work with was not a problem for me, however a pegboard and a work station with some drawers will give
you plenty of room to work and get organized.
My previous place had a nice sized garage and when I moved the new place did not have one. However I gained two extra rooms.
When you go from a garage to not having one and you wrench quite a bit in there building bikes for friends and such I really did not see any other option.
Looking forward to wrenching in the winter months with the heat on ! and not freezing in the garage.
dude! I don’t get jealous over much, but I gotta say I covet your room!
Oh wow, me too!!! That even stopped my husband in his tracks as he was just walking past my office right now and saw the pics up on my monitor. That is one beautiful workshop set up! I did giggle when I saw the liquor stash on the bottom left
Did you make the bike racks yourself out of piping or are those purchased?

The bike rack was an effort from Yakima that never really took off I am sure because of the price. That setup retailed for somewhere around 700 dollars If I remember correctly. Came out about 5 years ago and then quickly disappeared.
Actually, I’m far more envious of the fact you even have a spare room for bike stuff than the bike stuff itself. An extra bedroom in Norcal would add $150, if not $200k to a house.
