Just got one. Anyone use it in the pool yet? Is it actually waterproof as advertised? Still a little hesitant to swim with it.

From their website: Waterproof (1 meter, 30 minutes) and shockproof
30 minutes sounds a little ominous.
According to the manual, that device has an IPX7 certification. That means that it can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. If you want continuous underwater use, you need to find a device that is IPX8 certified. It is the same spec (ipx7) that the forerunner has…
That’s discouraging - I’ve replaced my Forerunner 201 twice after it crapped out due to water contact.
I looked at it, but was a little wary.
I am using an Ipod Nano, otterbox, and swimman waterproof earphones to swim in my pool. So far so good.

Where do you put the nano…swimcap?
You are brave. I couldn’t bring myself to submerge anything that costly.

The Otterbox case is Waterproof so no worries. The only drawback is that it makes a cute little Nano about 5X thicker and 50% longer. I stuff it in the back off my speedo…but ideally I should get one of those neoprene swimbelts to put it in.

Really? That’s good to know. Is that because you put it underwater or just due to exposure to water like in the rain? I think the garmin site says if it does get wet turn it off completely and don’t turn it on again until it is completely dry…
I know this comment isn’t directly related to your question… but why aren’t you considering a SwiMP3? I debated for a while on what type to purchase, eventually going for the SWIMP3. I’ve been very happy with it.
Have you braved the water with it yet? I’m considering it but also leary about swimming with it.

I swam with it once in the pool and had a helluva time keeping the earbuds in place. Water would flood in & block out the sound, buds would pull out, collapse in the ear canal, etc. I even bought a swimcap that covers the ears entirely & it still wouldn’t cooperate.
I use it all the time while running, but never in the pool. If I was looking for an MP3 player for the pool, I’d probably try that swimp3 thing, or buy an IPOD just for running. Thumbs down on the OSMP3.
