Orbea Ordu Owner Feedback

Just wondering how you all like your Ordu’s? Any issues at all? Do most ride with the forward running seat post? Thanks

Try running a search (“crowie” would be a good search term). A couple of people have mentioned this bike recently.

I know one guy who really disliked his, thought he was losing races because of it. Switched to a Specialized I think.

Wow, that’s not good feedback- Crowie has abandoned his and another thought he was losing races because of it. Crap

it looks cool though

The guy I was talking about is Crowie
.

I love mine. I have the ‘normal’ seatpost in the more forward setting. I think that makes it 76deg?

I can tell you I’m on a smaller frame (51) than I wouldve thought going by ‘small, med, large’. I ride a 54 road bike… 5’9 170#.

Fit is everything. If it fits for you, and you can get it dialed well to your geometry, it’s a winner. Build quality is great - but I assume that’s true with just about everything these days. Have duraace7900 on mine and that’s great too - but again you could have that (or better) on any bike. I hear other bikes are more aero, so if all else is equal, that’s worth looking at. 'shame all else just isn’t ever equal…

Oh yeah it looks REALLY cool.

I love mine also. I like the fit and the ride, I’ve never felt un-comfortable on it. I tested out the Felts, Cervelos and Specialized prior to purchasing. This one felt the best.

I have raced on my Ordu for 2 years and have had some very swift 40k bike splits for me (54 minute), and faster individual time trials. I seem to run okay off the bike too. Prior to that, I have had a Kuota Kaliber, Felt DA, and Trek TTX SSL. In the mid 90’s I had a Zipp 2001…that still elt likr the fastest bike I ever rode. I will be switching this year though…nothing to do with Crowie or all the other media hype/interest.

What I liked about the Ordu was the ability to get about as aggressive as you’d like without any crazy stems. Stiffness was great, and handling was too. The only complaint I had was it did seem a little “dated” with the routing of the cables.

As for all the other discussion about “fast frames,” I think maybe a little more time should be spent riding the bike than talking about why it’s slow. Lemond avg’d 34.5 mph at the end of the tour on technology from the 80’s. Put me on any of the current “superbikes” and cut the TT Lemond did in half, and I still would not come close to that.

However, it sure is easier to talk about how ‘fast’ bikes are without having to ride them.

As stated earlier, fit is paramount.

Bogus…What seat position are you riding?

Thanks all for the great feedback

Bogus…What seat position are you riding?

Thanks all for the great feedback

I ride the 80 degree position and my saddle is placed relatively in the middle of the clamp in that position. I ride a Fizik Arione so it’s a longer saddle (300mm I think).

I have an Ordu and absolutely love it! I’ve had it since about 2007. It’s the best fitting TT bike I’ve had and the best ride quality of all the TT bikes I’ve had - I’ve previously had Cannondale, Cervelo, and Blue TT bikes. I will say I had some issues with the front derailleur hanger at first. The front derailleur would randomly slip down and hit the big ring. It was a royal pain to fix and I never knew when it might happen next. I finally shipped the frame back to Orbea and they fixed the issue. Since then I’ve had zero problems.

I have a 2005 ordu with a dura ace groupo and love it.
did 3 tri’s this year, 2 sprints and 1 olympic.
love the bike, handles well, weight is great, climbing is awesome…still looks “high end” next to the newer generation tri bikes IMHO
my mechanic loves the cable management (mostly cause most of its external); easy to maintain.
i plan on keeping this bike as long as i do tri’s…unless the wifey approves an upgrade!

I had an Ordu until this week. I’ve just sold it. I bought it new…It was three years old and I sold it to buy a Santa Cruz Tall Boy Mtn bike.

I absolutely loved the Ordu. It fit me perfectly, it was blazing fast and it was a great ride. I’ve read all the various posts about how “slow” the bike is. Last I checked, Crowie won IM Worlds twice on the bike as well as a ton of other races. The bike is plenty fast. Orbea customer services is also fantastic.

As a three year owner, the bike is great. My two other previous TT bikes were the Aegis Trident and the Cervelo P3. I like both bikes but the Ordu was by far my favorite.

My road bike is the Orbea Opal. I love that bike too.

Yo Hablo’ Orbea!!

Your 2007 Ordu, does it have the super curved seat tube? I have a 2010 Ora which seems to be exactly the same bike as the 07/08 Ordu.
seems the old Ordu became the Ora and the newer Ordu is the on Crowie just changed from.

I love my Ora, it was all about the fit for me, tried felt, cervelo’s and trek SC before buying the Orbea.
I agree about the speed, my choice of rear hydration and one too many ice-creams makes me slower not the frame.
I just did IMWI with a taller front end set up for comfort, I don’t care if it cost me mins, it didn’t cost me as many mins as having to sit up to un-cramp would have on a super low bike. Fast in the tunnel does not automatically mean fast under me.

Not sure what you mean by the super curved seat tube. Here is my Ordu

My favorite bike was my Cervelo P2k. My next bike was a P3 Carbon (2005) and then after the bracket failed that held my front derailleur I needed a bike quick to race Louisville in 2009 so I settled ( I got a great deal and it was readily available ) for the Ordu. I think it is a good bike. It is a stiffer bike than my old P3. I did not realize how much my P3 flexed until I rode the Ordu. If you’re a gear grinder the Ordu is a good bike.

Just wondering how you all like your Ordu’s? Any issues at all? Do most ride with the forward running seat post? Thanks

I love my ordu. I rode an 05 Orbea Aletta for my first tri bike and moved to a black carbon 2010 orbea ordu. I love it. It was also my first SRAM bike and i must say i wont be going back to shimano.
