Looking at getting a new TT bike this year. I’ve been kicking tires on different brands and models, and I think the best bang for my buck, that’s in my price range, is the 2023 Orbea-Ordu M30iLTD.
I’ve seen a few Orbea’s road bikes in our area, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a TT in the wild. The road warriors seem very happy with the brand.
Do any of you slowtwitchers have this bike? Or know anyone that does? Are you/they happy with it? Reliable? Ride nice?
Just looking for any info on them that you’ve got.

Appreciate it in advance.
Enjoy the weekend!
Cheers

They promised and promised and promised crowie the bike in time for kona. Then they didn’t deliver, when it was tested turned out to be a brick. After that I’ve not given them a thought as a serious tri bike company.

Have somewhere in the ball park of 18,000 miles on my Ordu now. I think it’s definitely a fast bike and agree with the Slowtwitch article that it’s geared towards pro cyclists and triathletes looking to go fast generally. It fits me quite well being long/low, and I actually ride the small/medium frame size despite being just over 6 foot (with short legs). In my limited field aero testing and racing on it, I was not disappointed with the results. Though I haven’t properly tested any other bikes.
I don’t typically have a problem with the lack of a bento since I just use pockets for the couple of gels I’ll use in a race. The lack of bta and bts built in is annoying, but able to be circumvented with the right products and some creativity.
I’ve had a bit of problems with some of the parts dependability with a lot of use. Particularly the front monopost and a couple “hollow†screws they use on the front end. Can’t be sure some of it wasn’t user error, but some sturdier solutions there would probably be smart. And to be fair I am very harsh on my bikes.
Feel free to shoot me any questions about the bike here or privately. It’s a good value bike and would recommend it.
Have one on the way from Spain for my son and they are custom painting it free of charge. Flex Tape will keep the bento box on securely. I ordered it from the UK and the company above 3D printed it for this model.
The Ordu doesn’t look like a “brick” on the GCN videos. Besides, Canyon and Cervelo are busy giving all their top bikes away to pros and teams making them unavailable to the public with their hard earned cash.
Seem to be hard to get but there is a bike shop is Massachusetts that has a couple 105 di2 bikes for sale. I went through Orbea as it was on sale for $6500

It is misleading because he was probably talking about a model from 10-15 years ago. The newest iteration does look seem like an aerodynamically competent design. Too bad about the lack of storage, it really seems like a design blunder, but it can be resolved. And man, those custom paint jobs do look sweet. I really don’t need a new bike, but wouldn’t hesitate to really consider the Ordu if I had.
It’s the current model in the GCN videos. There are about four or five videos using the 2021 bike. I don’t think they changed much or anything other than fork?? for 2023.
My son is nineteen years old and would be fast on a beach cruiser : ) The bike seems to have a lot of seat and modern cockpit adjustability which is a big plus. It’s 105 but di2 which means it shifts. Nice to drop the overall price a couple thousand over Ultegra. Will probably swap the 170 crankset for 160 Ultegra. He’s currently using 155 for tri bike and really likes them.

I meant to say that whoever said the bike tested like a brick, was probably talking about an older version since it was around the time Crowie was winning Kona. The 2023 version does look fast.
Thanks everyone.
Really appreciate the input. I’ve watched about 10 hours of YouTube reviews on the ORDU today and I think the overall census is it is or shall i say, can be a fast bike if it fits the rider correctly. Seems like it’s geared towards more advanced riders. I am strictly liquid for nutrition so the top storage isn’t a deal breaker. 105 Di2 reviews seem very solid as well and will opt for that model.
One thing with that being said, I think you’re limited on gears with the 105 model.
Probably going to place my order tomorrow with custom paint. If it’s too long of wait time I’ll start calling all bike shops in N/A lol.
No experience with the current Ordu, but I have an older one (2016) and an Avant road bike. I’ve been very satisfied with the quality of both, and would put the brand at the top of my consideration list next time I’m in the market for a bike .
I have the previous generation Ordu (2018), and I’m really happy with it. The only downside was that I ordered it thru their custom color program (MyO) and while I was promised delivery within 4 to 6 weeks, it took almost 4 months. This was back when MyO was launched, so it is possible that those issues are resolved by now.
It’s funny how that bad that delivery time seemed back in -18, and now it almost sound normal.
I hear ya there. I do want it for this racing season starting in June so I might just get an in stock colour instead of waiting. We will see what delivery times are but the. You’re gambling on how good they are at delivering on that date. Hopefully better than Canyon is lol.
Got an email from Ordu and custom color bike will be built this Friday 3/3 and hopefully shipped Monday! He will be able to get some time on it before Collegiate Nationals in April. Cold swim!!!
With the stock 105 11-34 cassette and 34-50 chainrings I wanted to get some larger chainrings as he’s on 11-28 36-52 now and spins out on downgrades. It’s impossible to find larger aftermarket chainrings that work perfectly with new 12 speed. Thought about saving $ and getting 11 speed Ultegra crankset with 53-39 but could only find 165 and he’s using 155mm now. So, I bit the bullet and just bought 12 speed Dura Ace crankset ðŸ˜40-54 160mm. I think the extra $300 is worth it to get the sizing he needs and ensure no shifting issues. Hoping the larger chainrings will match better with the 34-11 cassette it comes with. Should also keep him more in the middle of the cassette. He would have to be riding up a wall to ever use the 34-34 of the 105.
