I’m just getting back into triathlon after a bit of a hiatus. I have a 2013 Cervelo P2 with 650c wheels and would like to upgrade from the stock Easton Vistas. Problem is, no one seems to make 650C anymore. I have a pair of old Hed tri-spokes but they are super heavy and I seem to remember them being sketchy with windy conditions.
I can find used wheels but not sure what I’m looking for. Would a pair of zipp 404 or Hed Jet be “better” in terms of weight and speed than the Vistas or the trispokes?
What about the Yoeleo? They have a 650c carbon wheel 50mm rim depth that weighs roughly 650 grams with hub. very expensive though and I don’t see too many reviews for them.
I am not a super techy with bikes! any help would be appreciated.
The owner will probably jump into this thread at some point, but everyone who buys these wheels seems to love them. Apparently they do quite well in the wind tunnel too.
I also ride a 650 c wheel bike and there are few options for wheels. I believe there are also places that make custom wheel sets. Now, to get 650 wheels with tubeless tires…
Probably not what you are looking for, but I have a set of 650 Corima 4 spoke race wheels I would part with.
edit to add, I think I might still have a 650 zipp disc as well, but will have to check my storage.
The Yoeleo are actually 650B’s, not 650C’s; if you look at the rim section picture, you’ll see that ERD is 584mm, instead of 571mm.
I suggest to put an ez gains disc cover on the rear easton vista, and use the hed 3 spoke on the front. That’s possibly the fastest set up for your bike. On windy days you could use the front vista, instead of the 3 spoke. The situation with tires is even worse, you will be forced to race with 23mm training tires; schwalbe one’s and vittoria rubino’s are ok but noticeably slower than the best 700c race tires.
Thank you for noticing the size difference! And yes tires are very difficult to find. I have the rubinos on now. Great suggestions for set up. Thank you.
