Opinions on 2xu Compression top and bottoms

Entertaining getting some 2XU Compression top and bottoms.

I have never used compression clothing and I would like to get some opinions of them. It is one thing to read the benefits from a company that is trying to sell the stuff however it is another actually getting some feedback from the people that have dropped the coin already and have raced with it.

What are your thoughts of compression clothing?

Does it work?

Does it keep you cooler?

Do you feel fresher?

So forth.

I was I have to admit a bit suspect on the whole compression benefit. But I thought I would at least try some full tights from 2XU as a start, if nothing else they would keep my legs warm in the winter ! And I have to say, whether it’s the placebo effect, but they did seem to aid recovery after a hard bike run or run. Never actually run or rode in them though. Once I started liking them I purchased a further pair , this time the elite range which I would recommend. There is a noticeable difference in the material quality and level of compression, i.e. better ! I also sized down to a small size. I’m 171cm and 68 Kgs and medium was just too big. I have since purchased the calf guards also in small for recovery in the summer, as the full tights can be warm, especially if you want to sleep in them. Might try running in those in the winter.

And finally, after I tore my cartilage swimming (very painful !), I invested in some short sleeve and sleeve less compression tops. And they have certainly helped in my recovered from that injury. My physio was most impressed with the quality and remarked my recovery had been quicker than she expected. So maybe the tops helped ? Can’t be sure, but they certainly didn’t hinder recovery.

So my suggestion is buy with an open mind, but personally they do work for me.

Thank you for the feedback. Surely there has to be something to them. They cost an arm and a leg.

I am looking to get the sleeveless tri top and shorts.

Hope they work for the $260 that im about to drop.

I ordered the Compression Tri Top and Shorts as my race stuff for this season. They are supposed to arrive this week.

However, I’m not expecting some magical compression technology, in fact, Tom Demerly seemed to have indicated in his TrisportsU article that the tri shorts didn’t have much compression to them at all.

But from the pictures, the all gray looks pretty cool, it has the cooling xylitol stuff, some compression, and what looks to be a good long distance chamois.

haha. I thought the stuff looked cool to so I said eff it and got it a moment ago. I have a race next weekend and was hoping that this thread would pop with some feedback. I got to anxious and pulled the trigger to make sure that I would get it in time without having to pay and arm and a leg for shipping.

Hope it has some affect though for the amount of cabbage it costs.

We will see.

I bought them based on the features and this review. Though I don’t know if I would have purchased them if it weren’t for the deal I got on President’s Day from Nytro.com for $200 + Free Shipping for both pieces.

But they definitely look cool.

Job well done on the finding the deal.

So are you looking fortri gear with some compression or just the pure compression gear? I havn’t tried their tri compression gear but do use the endurance tri range from 2XU, which is excellent. You could of course combine both, get a sleeveless compression top under a normal singlet, and/or compression shorts under normal running shorts.

I have the long sleeved recovery top and the long recovery socks. I usually just sleep in them and the body feels pretty good the next morning. i have read comments about how zoot and cep’s stuff is of a better quality, but the 2XU works for me. might try the compression racing gear this season.

I bought the CEP socks just for recovery however i got the 2xu sleeveless tri top and short bottoms for race day.

2xus compression isnt really compression.

Have the 2xu compression thermal top…awesome for running/riding in the cold, and really nice for skiing/snowboarding too. Have the elite compression pants and they are amazing. You can really feel you legs being compressed and you muscles vibrating less. Got the compression bib and that is sweet too. My only regret is not getting the compression shorts because I have a pair of sugoi’s and they are great for TRX work. Very happy.

Seasons----What are you basing your comment on? Everything I have read says it is. I’m not saying im right or wrong, just curious why you say what you do.

just look into literally every other brand name other than 2xu.

2xu is just tight fitting clothing. zero graduated compression. and even if it had actual compression, it would be worthless in a blood flow sense outside of the lower extremities. desoto does a fine job of their compression band in lieu of silicone grippers.

there are many threads concerning the lack of compression in 2XU.

Yup, I’ve got a 2XU compression top, great long sleeve base layer, but it’s just a tight long sleeve top. Pretty nice if you can get it on sale though, but if you’re looking for real compression look elsewhere.
