Opinions on 2XU compression calf guards

has anyone tried these? if so, what do you think of them?

I have been using them for the past six months. I find them pretty effective for recovery. I did a one leg test after a long run when I first got them and the leg which sported one felt better after the recovery period.

I have problems with pulling my calf muscles running, but since I started using these it is 99% decreased. I wear zensah and 2XU, but I use the 2XU in races because their thinner and fabric seems to dry faster. I wear them under my wetsuit, so I don’t spend any time putting them on during races. I’ve done 2 HIM with them without problems and I am training for IMAZ. I will probably never run without them if I can help it.

ok thanks for all the info
.

dude, go to walgreens and pick up a pair of anti-embellism(sp?) compression tights $32 bucks and you can get knee length or thigh.

I have 2XU sleeves, got 2 pairs of CEP socks at IM expo. Nothing, I mean nothing works like a pair of $19.99 medical socks from a drugstore. they are coolmax, and white. Super thin so heat is no problem.
If you are one of those IDIOTS who like to walk around in IM expo with their 2XU sleeves on go ahead, use your slowtwitch coupon and buy a pair from trisports. if you want a compression socks, go to a medical supply store or a well known drug store and pick one.
They do not work during the run as much as they work AFTER the run.

thanks, i was just looking for something to help woth the soreness in my claves from the big boost in running i’ve been doing, and i can get a good deal on the 2XU sleevs from the shop where i work

if you need compression socks for a half IM, you might consider aquaman next time.

There is a small problem with them.

The problem is that they cover up the age on the back of the calf. For those of us who are competitive enough to care about getting passed by someone in our AG but not fast enough to know by appearance all the guys who it could be, it gives a distinct advantage to those wearing them.

Granted, sometimes the number washes off on it’s own, but there are very few calves that I am unable make out at least the first digit.

Thats the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard. So you ONLY pass your age group in the race?

Nice to meet you.

Why do you think the race volunteers put the age on your calf? Any ideas?

I would have argued with you but you never make anysense so there is no point.

i would not use these to race in, just for recovery and some training runs.

I got a pair of medical socks from a drug store, cut the toes off and wear them around the house and to bed after a long run. I’m suprised by how much better I feel when I use them. I refuse to wear them in public though. There is something annoying about people who run with them on as if saying, “I run so fast I need socks to keep my legs from exploding”. No offence to those people who actually do run that fast and it seems we have a lot of those on ST.

I think after the run they will be just as beneficial as during.

As much as I like running in my compression socks, I chuckled reading this…very clever. Thanks for the laugh Jen

It’s nice to see you back posting… now if only Paulo would come back.

If you think that is funny you’ll wet your pants over this. 2XU has both race compression socks and recovery compression socks, at ~$50 each.

I wonder if they can be swapped around or what would the consequences be if you did?

Any comments about size / fit ??

I picked up a pair at Walgreen’s for $29.99 size medium. They feel snug around the calf, but not much different than dress socks at the ankle and feet.

Too big???
