Opinions needed, Cervelo P3 2015 or BMC Tm1 2016?

Down to two bikes , P3 or BMC Tm1 going which one do you guys recommend and why. Thanks

p3, I don’t know your fit coordinates but I’m guessing you will have a much better time as far as fit is concerned there. The p3 is set up stock with more options for hydration and nutrition. The p3 comes with good options up front like that 3t base bar, and the 3t arm pads on aero bars are very comfy!

Get fit first, then see which bikes are best…might be neither of those two. But if you must select between them, then get the superior bike - the BMC.

In what universe? I’ve had both and the P3 simply does not compare even though I fit well on both of them.

I was wondering the other day why there was no BMC love on slowtwitch… I mean it is the bike some of the fastest TTers in the world are rocking on the WorldTour.

How do I know if they fit, my store told me I needed a M/s for BMC and 51 for cervelo.

If you’re remotely close to an anthropomorphic “average”, both bikes, in some size, will fit you. The M/S TM1 and 51 P3 overlap a lot.

Pick the bike that meets your financial, aesthetic and ease of wrenching preferences.

Just pulled the trigger on a TM01. Absolute sweet. That said, you can’t go wrong with either bike. Both are nice machines. FWIW, I have been riding a P3C since 2006. It served me well for almost 10 years.

You get tested/fit with something like a Retul MUVE.

If you’re able to try them out, the one that feels more comfy to you, as well a good reputable fit so all should then be perfect…

I’ve had an old pP3 and just bought new TM01–absolutely love the TM01! I wouldn’t have loved building it myself as the front configuration looks super confusing, but with the retul and press ion LBS help its perfect and stiff and so far faster. Bento box storage would be nice to have the bolts that Cervelo has, but Velcro has evened that playing field.

TM01 is faster than P3, no question, but using the argument that the best TTers in the world using them is invalid. At that point with bike equipment, it boils down to talent, ability, health, and execution.

Next, the TM01 requires much higher maintenance than a P3. Not sure how much a P3 is, but I’m guessing it’s less than a TM01 at market value. Things that make you faster can be purchased with the money saved like PM or a Retul fit…

Sticking with ST tradition of providing an option other than the ones listed, buy a P2 instead then upgrade the bars and front brake. If there is any money left you can buy some more goodies (eg wheels, helmet, proper clothes, power meter) which will have a far greater impact on your speed than the frame ever will.
