Open Water Swimming

I would like to do a long(3-5k) open water race next spring in preparation for IMCDA. Anyone know if there is a open water race calendar anywhere? Know of any races in the midwest?

Another good idea is to try to just organize an event like that yourself. Talk to couple other folks and then set a date and spread the word. Of course also get 2 or 3 people to watch and follow in kayaks for safety.

I am also doing IMCDA and am looking to get in some group open water swimming (in decent temps) as well…Let me know if you find anything (or organize anything), I would be interested…Am able to travel in the west. I’ll let you know if I come up with anything as well!
