Was looking, without much luck, to find a lake I can swim in this season in the STL area … I would think Creve Coeur Lake or Lake Carysle (IL) might be good candidates? Any ideas?
Creve Coeur is not open to public swimming as far as I know. There was a open water swim hosted by swimbikerunstlouis.com last year every other wednesday, but there was a fee. Other than that you can swim in a river, lake st. louis, or innsbrook. But you need to be with a community resident to swim in the latter 2. I know nothing about Carysle.

You can stay at Innsbrook as a guest in the main building or in one of their cottages (also some of the residents rent out their condos). If you are staying there then you can swim but of course that would be a pretty expensive swim. ![]()
A long time ago I went to Carlye to open water swim. http://www.carlylelake.com/ It has an fairly large swimming beach…I think I could swim about 300 yards within the ropes - turn and repeat. All in water about 8-10’ deep. It may not be the best - but for $2 parking fee it’s not that bad. I can’t remember where on the lake it was…I think it is to the south (near town).
Innsbrook is nice if you can get in.
Lake St. Louis EARLY in the AM…you’ll be fine. We would start near the ski jump until a met someone who lived next to the community center.
When I moved to STL, I thought it was weird that there was a loyal tri community, yet no place for open water swims. BUT, I quickly found Shaw Park Pool…which is awesome and lots of fun people.
Certainly one of the things I miss most about STL…
