I recently moved down to Upper Nyack. Where can I open water swim down here? Thanks.
Not many options really.
you can always try the hudson. I’ve gone wakeboarding out of Nyack and the water quality isnt bad there. I’d advise having a friend with you though. and for it to be a bit warmer.
doesn’t rockland lake work?
every time I bike up there I wish I had worn a suit - and likely will this summer - unless there is something I don’t know…
No swimming allowed in Rockland State Park. Any other ideas?
I have swam across the Hudson for the MDSA swim, no way would I do Ironman distance training in there alone (I don’t have anyone exp. who can Kayak with me). Any ideas? Thanks.

not sure where you are getting that. the park website talks about the pools but does not say no swimming and this article suggests it as a place to go
The pools are open but no swimming in any lakes, by posted signs. I do not want pool swimming but want open water lake swimming. Thanks…
from the article I linked to:
1. ROCKLAND LAKE STATE PARK
Minutes From Midtown: 45
Get There By: Car. I-87 N. to Exit 11, go four miles on Rt. 9W N.
Cool Off: Before you jump in the lake, work up a sweat walking or biking the three-mile paved perimeter path.
Eats: Grab a lakeside barbecue site.
Facilities: Six comfort stations around the lake, though none with showers.
Know This: Open sunrise to sunset; $6 per vehicle. Info: 845-268-3020.
Check out Harriman State park - they have a bunch of lakes with public beaches. I know you can swim in Lake Sebago, Lake Tiorati, and Lake Welch. I grew up in Congers - it’s about a 20-25 minute drive north from where you are on the border between Rockland and Orange Counties.
