I could have sworn there was a thread on this somewhere but couldn’t find it with the search function.
Any suggestions for good OW swim spots? I’m staying near Riverstone Park next week and will have a car.
Thanks,

You could try the beach at City Park and Beach, near the Coeur D’Alene Resort. This is where the swim is for 70.3 CdA. It’s a nice beach area. Just swim parallel to the shore, as there’s boat traffic and sea planes taking off and landing in the area.
You can swim right along the beach near City park around the tree that juts out and to the direction of the river. There are a lot of boats once you get out, so I’d stay near shore (parallel) It gets >6 feet deep relatively close to shore. If you just want the cold water, you can go to Hayden Lake boat docks; there’s 2 lane lines now in the U shaped dock.

I think those familiar with the area swim from the public beach (Sanders Beach?) access near the west end of E. Lakeshore Drive. When we were there years ago to support friends racing the full my wife swam with some locals from this spot. This year we were scoping out the 70.3 run course one evening and some swimmers were accessing the lake here. It might offer some wind shielding later in the day that you don’t get near the City Park beach.
Sanders is nice, yeah. There’s a little marina there, so still good to be alert about boats, but generally the number of people is much less there than at City Beach. There’s just smaller access (two spots on either end of private waterfront.)
