Hey guys i`m about to take the plunge { maybe? } and buy a skinfit one piece speedsuit. What do you guys think about one pieces? Obviously there is the faster transition arguement but is it more comfortable? Does anyone own a speedsuit out there that can provide some helpful advice? Thanks
Faster transition?
Anyway, it’s a personal choice thing. I like to race in a full suit.
Faster transition?
I’m not sure why you are questioning him. I assume he’s referring to swimming in the one-piece and then just clipping on a number belt in T1 as opposed to putting on a top with a pinned-on number at T1. In a sprint those seconds might count.
In sprints I race with a one-piece unless it’s really hot (which happens a lot here in Texas). For longer distances I don’t like it.
I like the QR one piece for short races. The compression shorts part is awesome. However, I find I get some chafing going at the low part of the zipper in the front for a long course race. I say it it depends on the distance you do and whether the given suit will chafe combined with the funtion of the suit. I will probably wear oomp compression shorts with a tri top for my first IM next spring.
When you race with a singlet, it should be one that you put inside your shorts and pull up while running to transition, or use a very tight singlet and swim with it.
Every clothing option should be one that optimizes your transition time.

Yes, I know that… and since you have to do nothing with a one-piece it’s faster.

Well… although Emilio promised me that it would actually work it’s way up and put itself on within a minute of leaving T1, I could never get that feature to work on the singlets he made for me ![]()
