On-bike camera mount options for aerobars?

I’ve got a desire to record some footage from my TT bike. I have a camera compatible with Go Pro mounts (Shimano CM-1000). The normal forward-facing mounts won’t work because there’s no space to clamp my bars, nor is there space on/under/above the stem or the spacers under the aerobars.

I think the best option would be to mount it under the aerobars, but the mounts I see would have the camera pointed to the side, not the front.

The GoPro Handlebar/Seatpost mount might work (if clipped to the aerobars the camera can face forward), but the knobs that clamp the mount to the bars might stick up pretty high on the aerobars and interfere with my forearms. Also, I find that the GoPro mounts do not produce as clear footage as the K-Edge mounts.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

I put my GoPro under my aerobars with normal GoPro mounts.

I tilted the camera up so that I could see it and turn it on, then start the camera. After that I tilted it down to view the road. Afterwards I flipped the video with the GoPro software (or might have been Movie Maker I don’t remember)

Nevermind the few infractions I committed.

The underground footage of your ride there was awesome!

It actually transitioned really well. I was surprised.

I’ll admit I didn’t watch it all since I’m at work right now, but when I saw you first go underground, I thought it was just an overpass. Then I saw you start snaking through all the underground roads & I was thinking “Damn, this looks like a video game!”

Chicago is one of the big cities I have never been to & have always wanted to visit. I know their infrastructure is pretty cool, but I didn’t know there was a series of roads like this.

What mount? The only one I saw that could be used under the aerobars was the saddle mount…and still have the camera face forward. Are there others?

Thank you!

It comes with a mount to put it on your road handle bars that turns it 90° but I just left that piece out since I had it on my aerobar extension.

I’ve had it on my road bars too mounted above.

It felt like a video game. I never really got on the power cuz I was so busy watching the road and people.

I never knew I moved my hands so much. You can see when I’m going over some rough patches that I held tightly on the bars.

Got a pic with the mount on your bike? Thank you!

They didn’t bother my forearm. I use aluminum Vision extensions, my elbow pads may be wider than yours.

I don’t have a photo but I can take one later tonight.

thanks. my elbow pads are pretty narrow. looks like this is the only option so far. i can get it for $11, so not a big financial risk.

if anyone know of another option, i’d love to hear it.

thank you!

You may have a problem with only one side on the mount hitting your arm. You could put a regular hex nut on that side and use the other to tighten with.
