The IOC accepted Paris, New York, Moscow, Madrid, and London to host the 2012 Games.
Which city is your favorite for the 2012 Games? What other city would be a great host?

I bet you NYC gets it. The big American Networks pay big dollars for the Olympics, and it will have been 10 years (since Salt Lake) that there hase been “prime time coverage” and 16 years since Atlanta and prime time coverage of the more lucrative summer games.
Personally, I think Zurich would be a nice venue.
Zurich? Can’t see a Swiss city as host of the summer Games. I don’t think we would have the necessary infrastructure. The summer Games are huge and I seriously doubt that our little country could host such an event. Maybe one day the Winter Games return to Switzerland.
Paris, London, and Moscow already hosted the event in the past. Spain and the US had the Games in 1992 and 1996. For some reason I believe that Moscow will be host of the 2012 Games. Maybe they get some extra points since their games were boycotted in 1980.
I wanna see Paris for some reason. A Triathlon in Paris would also be nice.
I doubt NYC will get it since North America has the Winter Olympics coming up (Vancouver).
It would be nice for London to get it but they have a lot of work to do to convince the committee that the infrastructure will be ready in time, especially after the heart attacks that Greece is giving them at the moment with infrastructure.
I would put money on it being Paris. They have the infrastructure mostly in place already and the recent experience of hosting the Rugby World Cup and the Football World Cup to prove that they can do it.

Zürich might bid for the over next Winter Games. There’s a existing project, but popular support is essentially zero. As you say Summer Games would be extremely unlikely, simply to less of everything: hotels, space, money and enthusiasm for such a large event.

I vote Madrid or NYC. It seems like NYC would really have to do a lot of work to prepare venues, etc. The logistical challenge is enormous. I am embarrassed to admit that I have never been to Madrid so I don’t know too much about it, but I am told it is quite captivating.
I was hoping for a South American city to get its first bid but since Rio has been droped I guess I’ll pull for NYC.

NEW YORK CITY! Being a union construction worker in NYC. I can’t help but to hope for the games to came to the Greatest City in the World. However, our proposal really didn’t go over to well. The biggest problem seems to be the West side stadium that will become the Jests home stadium after the games. No one wants the stadium there except the owner of the Jets. There are also a lot of existing facilities in the area that haven’t been included in the proposal; Nassau County Aquatic Center, built for the Goodwill Games five years ago (four world records set there at a meet this winter), US Equestrain Center, near Morristown, NJ, Carnegie Lake rowing course, in Princeton, where the US team now practices and rows competitively. The new Nets arena in Brooklyn wasn’t included. One of the big problems seems to be the athlete’s housing in Queens with no direct access to the stadium. If the stadium could be pulled out of Manhatten and put in Queens with a whole athletic village, perhaps at the World’s Fair sight, it could make this whole thing much more doable. But man, I hope it comes to New York, I LOVE NY!
