Olympic dist the weekend after a half?

is it a bad idea to do an olympic distance race the weekend after a half iron??

I recently did an Xterra week after a half and it was fine. I didn’t feel 100% but I did it really just for a fun day in the mountains rather than a PB effort.

Depends on how fast you recover. If you’re feeling 100% a couple of days after the race, go for the Oly!

Last year I did the Cranberry Oly the week after Timberman and it didn’t go very well. Pretty good swim and bike but my legs were still trashed for the run —from my run at Timberman. I would say if you had a good run (i.e., you were able to run hard ) at your half iron your legs probably won’t feel good during the run at the oly…but then again everyone’s different.

Good luck

i just did timberman and i had a lousy run … so maybe i would be ok …lol

I did this back when I was younger (29) and recovered faster. I PR’d at both the half and the oly. My bike leg was a bit flat for the oly but I followed that up with my best triathlon run leg ever.
