So while Ashley Horner is taking a break from her 50/50 challenge, all you Slowtwitchers might want to follow this guy: Maarten van der Weijden, former olympian, 10 K ows gold medal winner of the Olympics in 2008. He is swiming 200 K continuously, following the course of the very famous (at least for the Dutch) 11 Cities Tour.
Being a cancer survivor, he is raising money for research in the battle against cancer.
This whole thing is broadcasted live on Youtube right now: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xFxjEl4gn5Y
So everyone can leave their comments about stroke rate, swim pace, drafting, whether or not he’s cutting corners, fuel strategy etc (pink).
Have fun watching!
Is he going to stop half way and bust out some deadlifts and squats, I’d imagine his body would be craving it after the first 100ks…
Live 360° footage of Maarten vd Weijden.

Cool! Didn’t know how this worked. Thanks!
He has been swimming for more than 7 hours now and covered around 30 km. Still looking very smooth
Incredible swim.
What is the water quality on those canals?
Waterquality is poor: There is E.coli bacteria present, that’s why the amateur swimmers were not allowed to join him on parts of his journey.

This website shows an overview of the course and covered distance. Updates every 5 minutes.
This is amazing. He seemed to take a detour around Sneek - but the distance covered is Epic! Hats off for the challenge and hoping it all ends well!
Thanks for posting. This is well worth following.
