OLN TDF Coverage Comments

  1. Please don’t show a split screen of Lance riding and Cheryl Crow watching. I really don’t care about seeing her reactions as Lance rides.

  2. Anyone notice today when they had the piece about Lance preparing for the team time trial, they showed him in the wind tunnel, on what they said was the Trek TTK, tweaking his time trial position? The footage they actually showed was Lance on a track modified Madone, with track drops, with him tweaking his position for a possible attempt at the 1 hour record. I was very surprised that OLN could get this so wrong.

I believe the part in the wind tunnel was an AMD commercial.

And if you think OLN shows too many celebrities, if it was on a major network you would see them twice as much.

I think the coverage has been excellent . I love the shots from the motorcyle, I love the data - heart rate etc I’d like to see more, like speed , especially at the finishes

and please show more Sheryl. no problem for me.

I think its been mediocre. Too much Crow, I’m tired of them sucking off Lance with every comment, Roll especially.

Just be glad the they are not using their own cameras. They have to use the French feed and comment over it. Why else are we watching chateaus from seventy two angles? I bet the French coverage gives you the history of each of the buildings.

I love the OLN coverage, especially the stuff live in the morning. Almost no Roll and Trautwig.

Crow is chewing her lip~~~ Crow looks worried ~~~ hell, I thought they broke up or something. She should leave…I dont care what she is thinking.

AMEN. when I saw that come on I just thought to myself, “please get that off the screen.” no offense, honey, but this isn’t about you.

I don’t recall hearing stuff about the history of the buildings when I lived there…but I think it’s good to see that…it’s the tour de FRANCE…if it didn’t matter what’s around, they could do it at home on a bunch of networked computrainers
.

I am curious as to why I haven’t heard much from Phil Liggett or Paul Sherwin. I watched stage 3 on Sunday night and all the commentary was done by Bob Roll and Al Trautwig. I have no problem with those two (as many people do), but I enjoy Phil and Paul much, much more.

Tape it as it happens live in the morning and you will get Liggett and Sherwin.

I love the play-play guy, especially at the sprints at the end. I never heard someone talk so fast.

The reason I have cable ($60 a month in NYC) is for OLN’s cycling/triathlon coverage. Really, both are weak throughout the whole year, until July when cycling dominates 12 hours of their daily coverage. To me, it’s worth it, although it does hurt my training since I’m inside glued to the TV. Even on flat stages that tend to be extremely boring.

Lance is marketable, and OLN wants viewers, so they talk about him. And, more people than less want to hear “Lance this, Lance that,” even when most of us on this site have greater interests.
