I´m writing a piece on sports and aging.
Who is the oldest IM-finisher? I guess it´s either Norton Davey or Bill Bell but I don´t have my facts straight here…

I do not know who the oldest is but Lyle Roberts from Burlington IA age 74 is going to Hawaii this year. Super great guy!
Hey Jonas, greetings from sunny Valyermo here. In the old days before qualifying and time cutoffs, there was a guy named Walt Stack. He may have been in his mid to late 70’s. ANyway, do a search on that guy, he did some incredible stuff in his life on a day to day basis…Good luck with the article…
thought it was bill bell.

Norton Davey.
Bill “retired” from Kona in 2003, but was back in 2004.
I’d say the oldest current regular IM participant is probably Frank Farrar.

I think the oldest IM Hawaii finisher is Jim Ward at 78 years. They announced last year at IM FL Robert McKeague was the oldest IM (WTC) finisher. I think he was 79 years old. Bill Bell would be the one to ask.
The key word here is finisher.
The ‘most experienced’ member of Team USA last week in Denmark was Lou Hollander at 75 years ‘young’. In fact he was the ‘most experienced’ athlete at Long Course Worlds. Super nice guy with alot of athletic experience: Western States, Long Distance Horse Racing, many Long Course Worlds, not sure of IMs though. He has some great stories.
He had a great race and finished 3K Swim, 120K Bike, 30K Run, in 10:00.
Robert McKeague is going to Hawaii this year to become the oldest finisher. He rocked Florida finishing in the 15 hour range. Incredible!
