Old Ironman Hawaii results online

Has this been posted?

Ironman finally (thank you mouse?!) has put all the old race results online… all the way back to 1978!

I guess that renders my put aside project ironmanhistory.com obsolete. :frowning:

Good stuff to browse. Lots of familiar names to stumble upon.

I like how even their scanned copies of the old race reports are better than 90% of the insane race results pages out there these days.

Man, what a cool piece of history!

It still amazes me that Dave Scott finished 2d overall at age 40 in 1994 and pulled off a 2:45 marathon at the age of 42 (to finish 5th overall) in 1996. Incredible.

Well, the 1978 results are wrong. They completely left off Tom Knoll, who finished 6th.

Thats because he used a garmin 305, power meter, $4000 bike, aero wheels, fuel belt, put socks on, changed clothes, ran 2 times a week, swam once every other week… OH, thats how they do it now, never mind.

Checking the results from 1991, first time I did Hawaii, sure makes me feel old. Oh to be young and fast again ;-(

Those results are weird, I agree. Only the first 6 have overall time.
Maybe they couldn´t come up with the complete results?
Strange, because the 1978 results are easy to find on the net.

Do you have a complete result-sheet still? I could forward that to the person who has put them on.

I agree! Finding my '82 results is a lot of fun. I am much faster now, but will probably never qualify. Back then, no one would even think of having to qualify–Who would want to do such a race?
In Oct '82, two races that year, Dave had the fastest swim, bike, and run times. I doubt that will ever be done in Hawaii again.
I didn’t see the Feb. '82 race results.
This week I am riding the Queen K. It should bring back many memories–good and painful.

I thought that strange too to skip the 1982 Feb results.
