Old Cervelo P5 Frame questions

A friend has an old (2014) Cervelo P5 Frameset that he is giving away. I would be interested in building it but am worried about the stem/handlebar that would be needed as I can find an old one anywhere. Can I use a regular stem and any standard triathlon handlebar combo? Thanks

Alpha One works very well on that bike. A little bit of creativity needed with the top fairing piece but other than that it’s as clean as it gets.

You can get much better bars that the originals now but even a basic alloy cockpit works just fine on that frame (without the shaped spacers).

Set up well, it’s still unlikely that there is anything faster.

I confirm tririg alpha one compatibility, with custom parts (beard support and stem cover).

Can I ask how you did the custom parts? I also just got a 2015 P5 and want to get the Alpha 1 since its so hard to find parts

Hi Chris,
I made 2 custom parts on this build:

  • the beard support, 3D printed in ABS, screwed to the Alpha1 stem and holding the brake hose cover
  • the stem cover, in carbon fiber. I have made this part in carbon fiber / epoxy. I had initially made it out of 3D printed ABS but it was not hard enough, the brake hose would eventually break the part. So I 3D printed a mold and then made the piece in carbon fiber.

The Red P5 was my old bike. Nick gave me the cad file for the underside anatomy of the AlphaOne base bar so I could perfectly fit my nose fairing. Happy to provide you with extra printed nose or STL file to print your own. That looks like a size 51? My nose if for a size 54 but it can be trimmed down to size

Hi! Is there anyway I could get the stl file for that beard support adapter. I would greatly appreciate it for my build!

Sure, is there an email I should sent to?
