Ok, so WHICH bike set-up is more aero?

Question for the bike experts out there:

so for the ideal, most aero bike set-up for IM Hawaii, what is the latest thinking on set-up? I have a standard geometry bike set-up, aero seat and downtubes, but should I go with my bottles on the seat and downtubes, with a jetstream up front, or a bottle on the downtube with two bottles behind the seat?

does it really make a difference? at the front of the ironman races, there doesn’t seem to be one concensus on the bottle set-up thing in the pro field-

thanks for settling my nerves on this one-

.

if i remember correctly, slowman did an article on this last year. i believe his findings were a bottle on the downtube was most aero, followed closely by seat tube or drink system up front. the worst was bottles behind the seat, as the exit of airflow is far more important to drag than the entry. look it up on the site, but i’m pretty sure i’ve remebered it right.

and really, isn’t it more important to have a bottle system you are comfortable with? i’d think you’d lose more time reaching awkwardly than having them slightly non-aero…

aha!

probably should have looked around for that first… but thanks!
