"Official" Ironman play-list?

I have notice that the WTC seems to play many of the same songs at their races year after year (and I think they do a pretty good job doing so). I want to make a list of the songs they play and put some of them on an “Ironman training play-list” (for motivational purposes - I know it’s goofy).

What are some of the songs that you like that they play at their races?

The morning of the race I always hear the following songs:

U2 “Beautiful Day.”

Eminem “Lose Yourself.”

Black Sabbath “Iron Man.”

At the finishline my favorite is the Black Eyed Peas “I got a feeling.”

WTC puts on good events, but I absolutely hate the playlist that seems to have permeated into non-WTC events.

I always hear some crappy song by coldplay (I think), the indistinguishable AC/DC track, and “start me up” by the Stones. Check out the start/finish videos on youtube for further examples.

Has Enya - Only Time been removed?

Sandstorm by Darude, is pretty much obligatory at every Ironman race. At least three times.

Here are some of our training songs…

along with “Right Here, Right Now” by Fatboy Slim…

Take the Money and Run - Steve Miller Band
.

My favorite is ‘Til I Collapse’ by Eminem, but I doubt the WTC will play that.

Seriously dude, the last place on earth you should look for musical advise is ST. Unless of course you like bland, generic and predictable top 40 stuff… oh wait.

Awesome. That is my “guilty pleasure” song…afraid to admit I listen to it! No better cadence or lyrics for a hard training run.

“Dude?”

No disrespect intended, but that’s so 1982 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf5rIuJPTt0. Not to mention “bland, generic and predictable.”

I’m sorry my taste is not more outside the mainstream, but the reason stuff is “popular” is because more people like it, than like the “cool” “unpredictable” stuff that some people listen to largely because it is “outside the mainstream.”

Just having fun.

I think Race Directors who complete USAT’s Certificate program get a cheezy mix tape (yes, tape) of race day songs. That’s in their goody bag.

Good call. I’ll throw another one out here that I dig… OK, I know it sounds super cheesy now, but dammit anyway - all you who were in Jr high about 1982 can thank me later, and the 20/30-somethings can kiss my ass:
