She won in spite of herself… pretty incredible, really!
She was slow off the mark on the beach and despite being in touch out of the water she missed the group in T1. She was at the back of the chase pack on the bike and was fortunate that Emma Jeffcoat bridged the gap to the front pack. She stayed at the back of the merged pack and was almost caught out when two in front of her let a gap open up but she managed to catch back on.
She came into T2 at the back and had an unfortunate slip on the blue carpet that left her 15secs in arrears starting the run… and she chased hard and just won in a sprint finish. Great that she won but you’re correct that it was not a great race as all of those errors would have been punished mightily in a WTCS field.
ITU having ironman problem now? too many races on same weekend causing weaker fields? brasilia was also this weekend. but considering her collarbone injury, amazing come back
Interesting article on TRI247 on Cassandra being coached by Loughborough university for 2 years before winning gold.
I remember when people on here criticized the Brits for training in Britain. Always thought that dumb, since they have had so much success. Seems it worked for Cassandra too!
I find your comment weird
I am in now way associated with Tri247.
I do find it interesting that Cassandra, who for a while has underperformed, moves to Britain and, apparently, changed her whole coaching team , then two years later wins the gold.
I guess, zero interest to you
Ok
But I did find it interesting. Particularly that she trained via Loughborough for the past two years where also, Alex Yee trained.
Half the article was not about age group testing, but about what Cassandra did. So, whatever you think about it, they had a certain amount of success. Of course, they started with two very talented athletes.
fair enough .
when i say close to 0 substance there is not a single data point from her training. i did not expect a scientific paper but something like this
great fireside chat, and I think we still have 5 or so years of these two at the T100 series, and perhaps some WTC stuff too. Did get that super quick comment from Vince that Roth could be his first full distance attempt. Imagine they would love to have him there to for his debut.
