It seems that with the bikes slowly making their way into consumers hands in the US it is time for the official thread on ST to begin. So now there is a place to discuss all things for the Speedmax CF SLX.
Couple of things I have learned/noticed:
Small parts are hard to come by, when they have them they are loaded to the Canyon Accessories section: https://www.canyon.com/en-us/accessories (they currently have the Garmin mount that attaches to the bottle in stock).
Still can’t get the rear integrated bottle mount.
When your arm pads are soaked in sweat or wet from washing your bike, DO NOT try and remove them. The velcro from the pad side will come off, easily fixed with using super glue to re-attach.
I also found that if you carefully use the “tool storage area” you can put the tube into the top tube creating more space for other things in the compartment.
I have found the Premiere Bike Box is a great case for the bike!
I have snapped one of the spacer bolts from tightening from the bottom rather than the top, so now I always tighten from the top and have not had any issues.
The #1 question I get is how does the Speedmax compare to your previous bike, the P5. Still need to do a write up on that, but hopefully in the next few weeks will get around to it.
The US Customer Service is easy to reach and always helpful: 1-833-226-9661
Jay Prasuhn frequents the ST forum, so hopefully we will see him chiming in on here from time to time.
And to get things started… (of note, I am now running 51Speedshop extensions)
I’m eyeing this up as my dreambike in 1-2 years. Not being a FOP finisher i have just one question: The tool storage box, how much can you fit in there? And, is there a draft box for the bike (as with BMC/FELT/QR)? Personally for an IM i would prefer carrying 2x tubes 2x CO2, multitool, so would be nice to get that out of the way in a non aero penalizing way.

There is room for 1 spare tire, 2 CO2 cartridges, CO2 adapter and a pocket in which I have 2 tire levers but here you could also fit a small multitool. A draft box is not available
To be more “inclusive”, would you mind changing the thread title to CF and SLX ? I have the CF model but would like to share ownership related stuff in the same thread if possible.
I based it off of the other “official threads†and how they were model specific, at least from what I have seen.
May be worth starting a CF thread as I am sure there are more owners out there as well. Although similar bikes, I am sure the nuances of each model are quite different. Ie: flying and packing the SLX is much different than the CF.
Thanks for starting this.
I agree with all your comments.
A unique challenge I find with my SLX (or any built in hydration system) is knowing how much I have drank during a race. A bottle you can see and notice an amount.
Not a complaint, just a different challenge.
For future possible owners- check their website daily to find inventory. A pain, but better than waiting for them to let you know a day late that they had some available the day before.

1 spare TUBE, think it’s impossible to fit a tire in there on its own, let alone with all that other stuff.
To the original question, whatever extra you can’t fit in the tool storage area, you could move into the bento box.
How is the shifting with the Ceramic Speed pulley? On my Felt IA its a little choppy in the middle gears. I think it has to do with the integrated hanger as the limit and indexing of the RD has been done by some top LBS folks here in LA.
Great idea to start a post about us CF SLX owners!!!
I added the SLF Motion Ceramic pulleys and so far so good.
I come from a P5 Three, so when I got this bike I felt a humongous positive difference I was not expecting at all.
My only “bad experience†so far was that the front hidration thing flew off the bike when I stopped at a redlight while descending on a downhill, carrying it full of water.
These are a few pics of my rig setup
Nice bike, man. Is that Central Park? I see a guy riding around on a Speedmax some mornings. What are your thoughts on the horizontal dropouts?
Hi, Jonathan! I know a guy who rides in the park who has the same bike. I ride on my Kickr 99.9% of the year. I’ve only been in the park for this pic and a couple of loops.
Another SLX owner chiming in! Also went with Ceramic Speed and like Brad, I have added 51 Speedshop extensions. I can echo you can fit a tube, full size tire lever, CO2, and chuck in the top tube/seat tube internal storage area, but it tight and I use a bit of black electrical tape in the cover to make sure it doesn’t pop off.
May want to see above about my comment on stuffing the tube in the top tube to create more space in the compartment Something I figured out the other day randomly.

I slide the CO2 and chuck into the top tube and the tire I stuff down the seat tube with a bit in the top.
Thanks for starting this, Brad. Indeed, I’m in every so often.
If you have any questions related to fit, availability feel free to DM me, or for a quicker reply email me at jprasuhn@canyon.com.
With all the minutae elements (storage capabilities, etc), absolutely hit up Brad; I haven’t put as much daily utility on the SLX as Brad has (I’m still waiting on one too… but waiting until y’all get one before I take one out of the small stock available!). We do have some small parts in our warehouse available for order (derailleur hangers, etc.) We are working hard to get small parts. We do have many SLX fit parts (spacers, etc.) but are still awaiting several pieces including that rear hydration unit.
And as it’s probably questions A1 in the minds of many: when will the next lot of Speedmax CF SLX models be in the United States? We have been hoping to get a small shipment of SLX models in this month (June), but it looks like that is pushed back to sometime in July. We have our email notification system in place, andwill send an email out to those who subscribe as soon as the models are received, checked over and made available on the website. Checking the site next month is worthwhile as well, and of course you can call our team at 833.226.9661 anytime M-F 7a-5p Pacific for updates. We don’t know when models will arrive, as we don’t get notification on when ships come to harbor, when bikes go through final touch, etc… we only know the day they are going up. We wish it was more specific, but it simply isn’t possible at the moment.
Thanks for the update Jay!
I have the SLX 9.0 and love it.
Thought I would hate the saddle as I am old and have been on a traditional long nose saddle for 37 years of Triathlon, but I love this saddle!
