Official Canyon Speedmax CF Owners Thread

60mm aftermarket kit from Profile Designs. I have a large frame. Am 6’2", 187.

My XS 2019 women’s CF 8.0 is on its way and I’m already researching how to personalize it – at least in terms of hydration. I love the look/function of the Aeria system, but I wonder if it will be too tall for the XS frame. Has anyone on an XS frame managed to get it to fit? I’d need the 70mm stem.

Did you manage to get an answer to this question around fitting the HSF Aeria system to your XS? Keen to do the same if it ill fit.

Has anyone experience getting the rear bottle holder to work with an ISM saddle? Due to the drop down at the rear of the saddle, there isn’t enough space to mount a cage and fit a bottle. Photo below shows a gap to the seat post and bottle still doesn’t fit. Might need to custom print a wedge to get this to work??

Not sure I follow. I have the Canyon water bottle mount on both my Speedmax CF SLX and Speedmax CF with no issue (ISM and Cobb both used). I’m guessing your saddle is TOO FAR back which is what’s happening.

FYI…your pic isn’t attached.

Hi,
I have developed a fully customizable hydration system for the Canyon Speedmax CF. With a total of 6 parameters, the system is specifically adapted to the individual needs of each athlete.
So it fits perfectly into the cockpit.
The system is mostly 3d printed.
The liquid is held inside in a bladder. The system is therefore completely safe to use and certified for use with food.

or PM me.

I will adapt der Custom Hydro Kit to other bikes and cockpits soon.

Looking forward to your reactions.

Does anyone have any views on which Speedmax to go for…i’m torn between the CF and CF SLX.

To me, it seems that the main difference between two bikes are the integrated brakes and the hydration unit?

Wondering if the difference in price between two models (assuming same wheels, gears etc) is justified?

As background, this is my first TT bike (previously using road bike with clip on bars) so I’m leaning towards the Speedmax CF model as I get the impression that it might be more adjustable and suited to me given that I will be working on TT position more over coming years.

Any thoughts/advice appreciated!

Image below. Still having issues. Saddle position has been set with a bike fit so don’t want to alter that at all. Does any have any suggestions to make this work. Currently run 2 bottles for training but want to revert to single bottle for race

Just looked at your pic. If you don’t want to slide you seat forward just a few mm (which will NOT affect you bike fit), then your best option is to try the 2 bottle bracket that comes with that mount and see if you have better clearance. My guess is no since it’s a little more erect than the single bottle setup like you have it. If neither of those solutions work, then a seat rail mounted bracket is what you are left with.

Hi, has anybody tried fitting 28mm tyres on their CF with any luck?

Update: they did fit and they’re amazing.

Hi,

I just purchased the cf 8.0 di2 model and looking to change cranks to 155mm. Rotor Aldhu were recommended by bike fitter but having some issues trying to determine:

  1. Any issues in general with these cranks and this bike/be?
  2. Which pieces to buy?

Thanks for any help.

Hey guys!

Got the Speedmax CF with the Canyon V21 90mm stem. Unfortunately they don’t have a longer version of it.

Anybody got some experience with a longer stem that doesn’t look completely off? Ideally 110 or 120mm.
The Aeria Ultimate has only 100mm and has a hefty weight to it (not a weight weenie but still… it’s hefty)

Quick noob question , why would you use 28 instead of 25 ? The rear space seems very small … your 28 doesnt touch the frame ?

I am surprised !

I purchased the Speedmax 8.0 Di2 version with the DT-Swiss wheelset but in one week I have changed 3 tubes. I am now pretty sure it is not a tube problem, but either the rim or the tire. Anyone experienced this before?

28mm GP5000 TL on the Reynolds AR 80 (19mm internal, 29.5mm external) and no rubbing so far. Have done a few hundred km on it, including mini gravel sections and rain and no issues. No signs of rubbing on the frame (no scratches, etc) to be noticed.

Why 28mm? Essentially did it for comfort. I am a heavier rider, hence usually would need to amp up the pressure and wanted to counter this. The occasional railroad tracks, cracks in the pavement - everything is a breeze, especially with the combination of tubeless and the width. Most probably not the best for aero, but comfort in the position and being able to hold it matters more in my view.

Sorry for the non-driveside shot

Perfect ! Nice looking bike

I literally just bought this bike two days ago, should be arriving Thursday. Can’t wait to try it out. Why not just set your wheels up tubeless? The DT swiss wheels are supposed to be tubeless ready. Changing 3 tubes in a week though is pretty surprising, maybe pinch flats?

Are you liking the bike? Can’t wait to get out on it. Switching over from a 12 year old Orbea, I think it’ll be a big difference

No rubbing issue at all? What pressure are you running on?

No rubbing seen so far, yes. Last rides have seen some sections with wettish leaves thrown in, which might make it even more tight, but no issues. Running it roughly been 4-5 bar, which should equate to 60-70psi.
