I have ridden a basic pair of mtb shoes for several years now and they are finally starting to fall apart…literally. I think they were a $30 special from nashbar or something. They do not have a carbon sole and I am wondering if I’d be wise in going ahead and moving to a carbon sole setup. The way I see it, I spend way to much time trying to increase my watts to lose it through the soles of my shoes. Maybe I’m crazy or over analyzing it…I don’t know.
On the road, I currently use Specialized trivents and LOVE them; however, I do not want to spend $300 to get the Conrad Stolz “off-road” edition. They would be awesome but…I can’t justify that for the mountain setup.
I’m looking at a pair of the Mavic Chasm. They look solid but I have seen very few reviews of these shoes. I haven’t seen too many negative remarks about Mavic shoes in general, whether on ST or otherwise, so I assume they are pretty decent shoes.
Any of you dirt-lovers have any experience with this shoe?
