As I begin to plan 2012 season I want to add some off-road races. Please recommend interesting off-road triathlons in New England and Tri-state area. Also, any good trail running races this fall?
Thanks
Stoaked Xterra in NH is a great race. you can race teh short course on Saturday and the long course on Sunday and make a week-end of it.
I have not made it over but I’m looking into doing race at the rez in vermont in the future, I’ve heard good things.
This time of year I’m shifting my focus to getting geared up for the various winter tris and duathlon in the area. channel multisports puts on some great races in NH and MA.

There are quite a few throughout the area, really. That’s really where I race. You might also want to consider heading down to Richmond, VA for XTERRA East Regionals…so much fun, so much better of a course than the smaller, more local ones. All in all though, good life decision to start to leave the road.

I love this post.
Also by judging the NE rankings, it seems as though stoaked, jersey devil, king of the hill and race at the rez have good attendance.
and yes, come down here to race richmond, you won’t regret it. Most interesting swim of any race I’ve done specially with the changes they made to the course last year.
i did XTERRA appalachia in august…wicked race… it was pouring rain the whole time which made the bike insane but an AWESOME technical and fun race.
I thought the Xterra New Jersey Devilman was a really fantastic event.
lin-mark will be good for your NJ/PA races https://www.lin-mark.com
tri-find also has an off road section http://www.trifind.com/
.
Here in the middle of PA, there’s a small local race that you may enjoy. It’s a short course with pond swim, mountain biking, then trail running. It’s repeated. You decide how many laps you are doing. They start at 9am, and whatever lap you’re on at noon is your last lap. The people who do it love it. It’s called Tri Tri Again, and the website is www.blacktopisthedevil.com - Mid-late June.
OK, thanks I will check this out. Now you have me thinking. Which winter tri and duathlons do you recommend? Would love to find one near our cabin in VT.

this year’s calendar is not up yet, but Charlie puts on some great races.
the Gunstock race is nice because if you have to travel the family can come and ski / snow tube/etc while you race.
the gunstock course is a MUCH more technical course with lots of turns descents and climbing on the run, bike, and ski.
weston is a golf course and a straight forward go fast race.
As this year winds down (one more old and a half marathon to go) I was thinking I’d like to sprinkle in 2-3 offload triathlons next year. can’t travel very far due to work/family. Here’s what I found:
xterra French River (MA)-late June
xterra Sky High (NY)-mid July
Winding Trails series (CT)-weekly through summer
Top Notch Triathlon (NH)-early August
Hale off road triathlon (MA)-mid September
Are there other northeast off road triathlons that I should think about for next year?
Xterra Jersey Devil in late April.
I would also check out the few races in Ontario and Quebec if that’s not too far either.
