I am curious to know, for the athletes who have their big days on Saturday and Sunday, do you take your off day on Friday to rest up for the weekend or do you take the Monday off to recover from the weekend? And no I don’t mean recover from a weekend of drinking ![]()
On the one hand Friday is great as you go into the weekend feeling good, however, I like working out Fridays as it makes me excited for the weekend workouts. But the resting on Friday is great too as it allows me to recover from a long work week as well.
So where do you put your rest day?
Moderate day on Friday.
Intesity day on Saturday.
Long day on Sunday.
Easy day on Monday.
An off day on Friday and an easy day on monday.
I prefer to go into a weekend fresh rather than tired.
Swim & weights on Fri, off on Mon
.
Friday swim, weekend big run and bike, Monday off/massage
.
monday off. you don’t always have to be fresh as a daisy for your long weekend workouts. good fatigue is good.
Monday off or maybe a short recovery run or swim.
Friday is my day off.
Might do some yoga, but that’s it.
Mondays off… Good to be a little taxed going into long rides and runs over the weekend…
However, Gordo’s advice on mid-week long runs have alway’s intrigued me and therefore, could give me Sunday’s off and start the week on Mondays’
I find days off harder on the body for two days following than just doing some very light spinning on the bike. Its not even in z1 but done with very light pressure on the pedals. This way I dont feel so sluggish on the next couple of sessions. So now I do ride a bit on days off, even when the coach prescribes a day off. I do think that days off are for the mind as much as the body.
