Oakley Radar vs Flak Jacket

I’m looking to get another pair of sunglasses for the year and am interested in the flak jackets. The only drawback I see is that there is more frame on these than the radars. Anyone used both and have an opinion on the differences in the frame?
Dave

I have both and like both, but for different reasons.

The Radars do not fog and I can bike or run in them. They are, however, a bit larger. I have two pairs and use one pair on the bike and one on the run. They are the prefect replacement for the Pro-M frame, which I never though would happen.

The Flak Jackets sit close to the face (At least on me) and during cold/cool weather runs tend to fog. However, sitting closer to the face, the don’t allow any light to creep in the sides, which is the only drawback to the Radars.

Also if you want a pair of glasses that you can wear casually the Flak Jackets look a little less cheesey than the Radars.

Hope this helps,

Bob

Ran both, for running flak jacket all the way, for the bike radar. the radar works well on the run but I prefer the fit of the flak, in my aero position the Radar has much more vision site.

Are you taking into consideration the different size optics you can have put in the radar?

Um, huh?

I use the Radar Path and while it is a bigger lens than the Falk Jacket, it sits farther away from my face, thus no fogging. I could put a larger lens in the frame to eliminate the light gap on the edges, but then it would hit my cheek, which would be worse.

Bob

I have the Radar Path with G30 vented lenses. They are nice but they do fog in cold weather when I am running unless it’s windy out. But I have a serious fog problem with sunglasses and swim goggles so I think I must breathe through my eyes or something.

Tanks. Some good info to take into consideration.

I like the Radar Straight-stems. I have a pair of custom Radar “regular” glasses also but the straight stem ones fit better under my aero helmet and look better if worn off of the bike.

What are the straight stems? Is it a solid one piece stem, ala the Pro-M frame?
