First, my condolances to the officer’s families and the Oakland PD.
However, I find it outrageous that the discussion turns to assault rifles. Of course they should be banned, along with all hand guns. Then maybe we can keep them of the hands of these criminals.
Finally, we should just put a chicken wire fence around the city of Oakland. Black eye of the bay area.
How about just keep the criminals in prison where they belong? I hear there is a desert in California that we could put some tents up in for their housing and two meals a day. Better yet, there is some land in Nevada that is un-used and only slightly radioactive that is just prime for such use.

My sentiments exactly. What the hell is Alaska for if not to be used as a giant prison.

There may be some bad areas of Oakland (74th & MacArthur being one), but the whole of Oakland should not be judged by that neighborhood. I live in a nice area. I have many friends that live in Nice neighbothoods in Oakland. Ever hear of Lake Merrit, Piedmont, Montclair? Probably not, because these areas don’t make the news for shootings.

I used to live in Oakland back when I was going through a public health/preventive medicine training course at the old Oakland Naval Hospital, back in '79. I had a great nine months there. I think I lived somewhere near Seminary Blvd., and I had an apartment that could see the bay from where I lived. Lake Merritt was very nice, too. I don’t have a bad thing to say about the town. That ass clown who did the shootings could very easily have been any other ass clown in a big city. I mean, we’ve certainly got enough of 'em here in the Detroit area. 7 or 8 years ago, there were two or three of them that were being chased by the cops. They opened the back of the van they were using and hosed down a cop car with AK-47 rounds. Killed at least one or two cops, if I remember correctly.
I blame *Grand Theft Auto *and *Get Rich or Die Trying. *This sounds like something from right out of those two video games.
Just to be super-petty, but fair to Piedmont, Piedmont is its own city, entirely surrounded by Oakland. But I think the Oakland neighborhoods immediately outside the city of Piedmont are relatively nice.
I got my fastest on the bike when I commuted in the bay area. Use to park in richmond near the bridge and rode from there to Alameda…Redline the whole,a guy with tight shorts and shaved legs in those hoods stands out…I lived in Novato!

My condolences to the fallen officers and their families, may they rest in piece.
Now the shitbag is linked to a rape the day before we, “thinned the herd”. God bless the officers and their families, “it is not how they died that made them heroes, it is how they lived”.
