I’m going to visit a friend in Brooklyn this weekend. I thought I’d get a quick run or two in. Mapped out a route starting at his place around McCarron park, over the Williamsburg bridge then Manhattan bridge and working my way back to his place. My question is, are there any water fountains around the bridges? Need to know if I should bring water with me or not.
Hey,
if there are any water fountains they have likely been turned off by this time of the year. A direct loop from Williamsburg bridge to Manhattan bridge (on Brooklyn / Manhattan side) is around 6 miles, btw. Let me know if you need help planning some routes.
I run that route a lot. There aren’t any water fountains unfortunately, unless you run through East River park. But as a previous poster noted they’re probably turned off. Best bet is to bring water, or, bring a couple of bucks and pop into a bodega in Manhattan/Chinatown when you get over the first bridge.
Thanks! I used the Strava heatmap to kind of keep to the roads that look popular. Should be about 8-9 miles plus wherever I go when I get lost.
Ha, turning water fountains off?! I live in Texas, that possibility had never crossed my mind!
It’s going to be mid-50’s at most. I wouldn’t worry about water if you’re running less than 12 miles. just hydrate beforehand.
Yep the pipes freeze in the winter. don’t want water turning to ice in them!
