NXS Wireless Shifters - Update Dated 28th July 2022

Wondering if anybody has requested a refund and has got one. I’m leaning towards asking for one and then trying to get a charge back.

We informed our customers that shipping would begin about the end of July. That schedule has slipped a few weeks despite our best efforts. We want to assure all current and potential customers that this product is definitely going to be released soon. But due to some conditions out of our control, we have suffered some setbacks.
In February, we moved the company from Taiwan to the Philippines. At the time, and given the current global situation, we felt that was the best location for our assembly and distribution. However, we have been blocked and delayed at every step. Currently, importing and exporting in the Philippines is extremely risky. We suffered many significant delays and losses. Expensive components often “disappear” without a trace. We could not continue with such risks.
So finally, we made the decision to pull the company out of the Philippines completely, and are currently in the process of setting up the assembly operation in Thailand. This was a very difficult decision to make, because we knew it would result in more delays. But it was a higher risk to stay where we were. This requires us to spend a lot of time and money moving everything. Many things have to be scrapped and re-purchased due to shipping issues. Most of the components and equipment has already arrived. If anyone is in Thailand, You are more than welcome to come visit us.
Many people may be concerned that they were scammed, cheated, etc. We’ve had people say the product is too good to be true. This is not the case. You are free to ask for a refund and we will process quickly. We have done so for many customers already. All payments have been accepted through Stripe, which is safe and secure. We have been a little slow to answer some customer questions due to our strained resources at the moment. We will be caught up soon.
Our goal and belief is that the NXS system will become the dominant wireless system on bikes within the next 2 years. Every bike aficionado we have shown the product to has the same feeling. It is the most exciting product in years. These small setbacks are very disappointing to us, but that will not deter us from our goal.
Within 2 weeks, fully functional first production systems will be sent to a few select distributors. Shortly after, we will begin assembly of the first production batch.

Again, we are deeply sorry for these delays. We are doing absolutely everything within our power to get back on track. We are in no danger of failure, just taking a little longer than we planned.

Saw this on their Facebook page, they claim an email was sent out but I didn’t get one, though I did get the email update that you already copy/pasted in the post.

I had ordered a 2x set for the gravel bike and a 1x set for the MTB. Requested the 2x set be refunded on 8/2 and no response, followed up on 8/12 and again no response. If I can’t get refunded on that order soon, I may just do a credit chargeback for both orders.

Well, they cliam to have send ANOTHER update but I didn’t receive it but I’ve received the first two email updates.
The brief timeline so far is

  1. Facebook - Initial schedule was 1st June to start delivery.

  2. Facebook - Update - cliam that delivery is still “on schedule for 1st July”, not withstanding the fact that it was initially promised for 1st June, therefore no longer “on schedule”. (with a promise to send out email confirmation before delivery).

  3. I saw in one of the post HERE in this forum that someone cliams to know the owner personally , and that it’s all legit , blah blah blah… Decided to take a chance since the person seems to have been in the forum for some time. I knew about the KickStarter fasco at this time but at the same time Cellcycling has been in operation for some time and has been delivery orders.

  4. 28th June - 1st email update - Basically due to moving to Philippines , schedule has slipped but "don’t worry, everything is ready and we will start assembling and shipping out. (Remember, delivery at this time is suppose to be 1st July). Message was basically almost ready and “due to pandemic, there is shipping delay but expecting to ship out late July”. - IF anybody has even order anything from oversea, especially China , you will be aware shipping delays are essentially two weeks, not much more than that, and I’m assuming he is shipping from China to Philippines. But let’s give him the benefit of the doubth.

5a. 28th July - 2nd email update - Basically due to issues with shipment “lost”, they decided to move operation to Thailand. “Anybody in Thailand are welcome to visit their office” - No Address provided OF COURSE. Friend of mine send email, facebook messages, open a support request, and post on their facebook page asking for the address. ZERO response.

5b. Part of 28th July email - “Samples will be shipped to distributors by mid August”. Pre-orders expected to ship end of august. So essentially, we who paid for the product get’s deprioritized instead of sending to us as PROMISED . And of course, August came and left, but the product never came. Just a FYI, one of my family member send things every couple of months to Philippines, and I’m not aware of any issues with stolen goods. Especially if you paid for a reputable courier.

6a. 27th August - Facebook page - No emails update received. So 28th July email was that all equipments and parts is in place , and they are ready to send samples by mid-august, and ship out by end august, but new updates is “it’s taking longer than expected to be ready”. WAIT, wasn’t it already in place and ready ???!!??

6b. "Our plan is to assemble in small batches and organized an event in HK or Singapore ", wait… how small is small ? 10 ? 100 ? 500 ? How long does it takes to assemble each ? From what I can see of the 1X , there is not much assembly required. I assume PCB will be assembled and tested at source, so MAYBE just put it into the mold case. Nothing that a couple of screw drivers wouldn’t fix. In fact, I offered to accept it in unassemble form and I’ll assemble it myself.

6c. Isn’t the priority to deliver the goods as PROMISED, why is he wasting time / resources / money on organizing an event, causing further delays. Seems to be another excuse for delays. In any case, no updates on WHEN it would be deliver, only that it will no longer be “late august” … obviously…

I have since found out that Xshifter did a similar Pre-order , and didn’t deliver on some of them, taking more than a year on other Pre-orders, and making some customer order additional orders before they would agree to deliver the Pre-orders due to “shipping cost”. Company was subsequently “sold” to Cellcycling. But same guy is still running it. Allows them to legally cliam that Xshifter no longer exists.

If you want to ask for a refund, you probably should go via the chargeback route. Enough charge back request, and their processing fees goes up, and also their payments get delayed. The guy’s name (not just the company - banks are smarter than us) on the credit card services application wil protentially get blacklisted as well.

Noticed that I use “he” instead of “the company” because it appears to be run like a 1 man show, adhoc changes based on which side of the bed he woke up from.

Well, it wasn’t a new company/startup. It wasn’t Kickstarter/indigogo.

It was suppose to be a update of an existing product that has been around for a while. And it was suppose to be a pre-order for a working product.

I’m also not getting email updates, but now the website states shipping starts about October 3, and now from Singapore, not Thailand.

A public event is supposed to be held October 7 premiering the new gear. Fingers crossed someone actually uploads some video.
