Nutter Butter

So another really interesting question for the boys - for my upcoming IM I think I’m going to use some type of ball gu on the bike leg. I have never lubed up before as I havent had too many problems, but for my first IM I figure better be safe than sorry. So, do I use vaseline? Or ordinary cold cream? Or do I have to pony up $$ and use special “chamois butter” or whatever Lance uses?

For the run I guess I will just use vaseline…

Me and my two little friends thank you in advance.

Yeesh, the title of this thread made me hungry. Now I want to throw up.

If no one has any suggestions I am going to do my long ride this weekend using blue bonnet margerine. I’ll let you know how it goes. In graphic detail.

I’m old enough to remember the old jingle, “Everything’s better with Blue Bonnet on it!” Now, I’m not sure I believe it!

Yeah, I thought this was going to be about Nutter Butters. I love Nutter Butters!! In fact, I think I’ll go buy some today.

I asked this before and the concensus seemed to be Bag Balm.

Wouldn’t margarine start to go rancid in the heat? Bleh…

sauteed nuts…mmmmm.

Ok, like everyone else I thought this was going to be about cookies. Anyway I like Assos chamois cream.

I’ve ridden 5 100 milers in the last 7 weeks and don’t use any but my Desoto tri-shorts on my butt. It might be strange running with the butter on your butt. Definitely tri it first but do you really need it?

Me too!!! I wonder how they will sit on my long run today?

Lance uses Assos if that’s what’s your after, lots of it. Did you guys see the Chronical edition when he’s lubing up. I thought it was a joke…

I use chamois butter, but will switch to Assos when my supply runs out. It has a numbing agent…FWIW.

Got a 185er in on Sat w/o any sores. Missed the 200 mark due to darkness. Urrrghhh…

Icy Hot.

icy hot helps you to do more out of the saddle sprints…

be carefull…Sharks and Clydesdales really go for the butter…

BAG BALM! Green Tin in the “lotion” isle at CVS/Rite-Aid…about 7-9$ tin and I go through 2-3 tins a season…

I’m not one to grease the fruit basket, but I do lube south of the equator. For shorter races, a lanolin-based product (e.g. Udder Cream – inexpensive) is fine and is less messy than Bag Balm. For longer races, I go with petroleum-based products like Bag Balm. I’d probably use Bag Balm more often if it didn’t liquify in warm weather and leak from the tin packaging. It’s easiest just to lube the chamois.
