Now THIS is bike porn! Wife's new bike: Starry Night!

I ordered my wife a new road bike last June for her birthday. Yesterday, nine months later, she picked up this masterpiece. I can’t help but post some pictures to show this thing off! It won ‘Best Paint’ at the 2011 North American Handmade Bike Show.

Need to give credit to:
Brad Cason from KirkLee for the handmade carbon frame, Darin Wheeler for the amazing paint job and of course Philip Shama from Shama Cycles for the build and amazing support.

All the pictures can be seen here:

Outstanding! Vinnie Van Gogh would be proud. I believe his FTP was just north of 300.

Killer paint job, but I can’t believe you got the wrong gear selected and the cranks out of line. Soooooo close…

They said he cut off his ear because he was crazy, but it was really because it made him more aero.

That bike’s a beaut. Wow. Darrin Wheeler impresses yet again.

My wife chose the Van Gogh, but she had no idea what Darin would be able to do with it! He surpassed all expectations by a long shot!

No wife in those pics?!

Don’t mind him he left his girl and his palm is sore from the long rides.
Nice bike it is beautiful. She is a lucky lady.

How is she relevant here? Nah, after 7 years of marriage, even she agrees the bike pictures are what’s important!

Very nice!

Very cool!

Very cool!

Maybe when Flo Cycling starts producing ~40mm race wheels there might be some on there!

wow.
super slick.

I don’t know if I could ride something so beautiful. I’d be afraid that something might happen to the amazing paint job.

Chapeau.

We hear that a lot, but underneath the amazing paint is an equally nice frame. It’s made to be ridden. She picked it up yesterday and should have well over 200 miles on it before Sunday!

I’m sure it is. And I’m sure she’ll get many enjoyable miles out of the bike. And a lot of turned heads.

Very cool!

Haha! We’ll see what we can do. Right now the budget for the 60mm, 90mm and Disc is tough enough. 40mm wheels might come in the future. You’d never consider 60mm?

Again, that’s a really cool bike. My brother’s girlfriend is a huge Vincent Van Gogh fan. I showed her the pictures and her jaw dropped. She wanted me to tell you she really like the bike too.

Take care,

Thanks!

I’ve got a set of 60’s already…we’ll at least she does. I’m looking for something a little shallower for every day riding!

How do you pull the trigger on a Schmolke seat post? I spend some $ but… Don’t get me wrong, it’s the baddest seat post on the planet, I find it hard. Super custom build!!!

Kind of lucked into it. I’ll spare the long story, but it wasn’t planned and I didn’t pay full MSRP for it!

The detail on that paint is amazing.

The chain just makes me wanna say ‘cash money allmighlong bling bling’ though. Get your gold on yo.
