**NOTICE: Political Discussions will be moving to its own category.**

This works for me. I have Politics, lav room and road cycling (for some reason) and they all show as one mingled list. The rest of the sub forums are off tot he right if I ever want to browse.

hi eric

“politics is life” seems to be appended to my name now – is there any way to get rid of that?

If it works like the others-

Click your profile picture, then Preferences. Scroll down and choose Title.

Don’t know about the overlay image on your profile picture though.

Perfect! worked for both the title and the picture overlay. thank you.

Does not work for me

perfecto thank you!

How does one get invited? The links did not work for me.

I’m with others: I get the “this link cannot be redeemed” message.

Try now.

This is a great compromise. Thanks for the work on this.

Cheers mods

I also appreciate all the work that you are doing to find a compromise for all.

Clarification questions:

How quick will a thread get the hook and sent off to the Politics Category? Is this a learn as we go idea?

Will the mods consider deleting a specific ‘offending’ post to keep the original concept of the thread going and not have it moved?

Assuming that habitual offenders that alter threads to a political discourse will receive warnings? timeouts? Bans?

As a community can the mods please highlight when the thread digresses that results in a decision to move and/or ‘reprimand’ a user so that we can learn and grow? I think we all have a good idea of the line to cross to get a time out or banned - and we can see the first group of threads hat have been moved to have general idea of how this will work. I suggest the more clarity we can have early on, the quicker we’ll all adapt.

@E_DUB with the political talk moved, I hope this means a return to the Lavender Room for some discussions. I am genuinely interested to hear your take on current issues. Hope you consider and thanks again.

Happy to call anytime

If I were mod, I’d give a tiny bit more leeway to LR threads started by people who are already PIL members.

If a non-politics user starts a topic in the LR, then people should show extra restraint to not derail it, since the topic owner can’t see it anymore if it moves to PIL.

We might not be able to see who’s who, but the mods know.

@sweathog

I feel like I addressed this…

I’m confused (as usual). Won’t these moderators have to be moderating all forums to look for political sidetracks and then move them to PIL? How is that “easier moderation?”

Don’t “members of that community” already have access to political topics? Or is this to say that this change is the alternative to removing all political talk from the Lavender Room?

It looks like this is an effort to return the Lavender Room to more public access, since I thought the original purpose of sequestering the Lavender Room was to enable Google Ads (or whatever).

After you join, make sure you go to your preferences under the Account section, and update your “Title.” If you join the politics forum, it will have defaulted to adding “Politics Is Life Discussion Board” next to your username. You can turn that off, if you want.

Also, you’ll have a small square icon of the scales of justice added to your round icon. You can change that on the same section of your preferences under “Flair.”

If you want to see all the LR and Political threads in a single page like you did before, you can set up your preferences. I’m sure there might be more than one way to do this, but if you go to the +Tracking section, then down to the Muted function under Categories, you can mute all the categories you’re not interested in.

Then, if you choose the Topics view from the side menu, threads from whichever forums you left unmuted will all show up together in time/date order.

You can still always go to the other forums to see those threads if you want.

Generally speaking the only place up until now that politics were allowed was the LR. Now if someone wants to talk politics. They come join this room. Other than that. The community really doesnt allow it in other threads. Usually Community members will shut stuff down pretty quickly.

Any chance we can had an even separate category where we’re allowed to use the c and r words? Just asklng.

Like you can “C” yourself right off this forum for that sort of engagement?
